I am typically the type of person who maintains a small group of close friends. However, friends get married, have kids, move back home, and you lose touch. This happens at a time when it is hard to meet new people. You find you are too old for the bar scene. Plus, I find you do not enjoy the poor lighting, loud music, and club scene dominated by geeky banker-types who act like they are auditioning for the autistic version of Dancing With The Stars. Wife, kids, dogs, Volvo wagon, orthodontia bills, and private school tuition. Unfortunately, that is not the way my life played out. However, I spend my time with productive activities like going to the gym, running, home decorating, and working a second job as an adjunct professor. Full disclosure.. When I am running I look like someone pulling a sled.I thought Plenty of Fish might be a fun way to meet someone who is interested in family and a long-term relationship. There is always an awkward element to all first dates. There are high expectatations and a lot of uncertainty about meeting someone you don't really know. I prefer something relaxed and casual where you can share conversation and see if there is any connection. Chemistry is such a difficult thing to define. You send a lot of time sharing paragraph jumbles in cyberspace. However, you never know if you really click with someone until you meet in person.
