Meetville. Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: January 11, 2010
Last Updated: September 1, 2026

1. INTRODUCTION AND DEFINITIONS

1.1 Policy Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy (the "Policy" or "AUP") governs access to and use of the Meetville™ online dating and social discovery platform and all related services, applications, application programming interfaces, software, documentation, events, and materials (collectively, the "Services") provided by Sequoia Network, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Company," "Sequoia Network," "we," "us," or "our"). Meetville is a proprietary platform and trademark owned and operated by Sequoia Network, Inc. The Services are made available through the domain meetville.com, associated subdomains, and our mobile applications (the "Platform").

This Policy exists for one primary reason: the Services connect real people who may meet in person. The conduct rules below are not administrative formalities. They are the conditions on which you are permitted to remain on the Platform.

1.2 Definitions

For purposes of this Policy:

(a) "User," "Member," or "you" means any individual who accesses, registers for, or uses the Services.

(b) "User Content" means all data, text, photographs, videos, audio, messages, profile information, and other content that a User submits to, stores in, publishes on, or transmits through the Services.

(c) "Profile" means the collection of information and User Content a User publishes for viewing by other Users.

(d) "Safety Incident" means any conduct on or connected to the Services that threatens the physical safety, financial security, privacy, or wellbeing of a User or any other person.

(e) "Security Incident" means unauthorized access to, or acquisition, use, or disclosure of, User Content or account credentials that compromises the security, confidentiality, or integrity of such data.

(f) "Minor" means any individual under eighteen (18) years of age, or under the age of majority in the individual's jurisdiction of residence where that age is higher.

(g) "Terms" means the Terms of Use or other master agreement governing use of the Services.

(h) "Intimate Image" means a photograph, video, or other visual depiction of an identifiable individual that displays nudity, partial nudity, or sexual activity.

1.3 Service Description

Meetville provides an online dating and social discovery service that enables adult Users to create profiles, browse and receive recommendations of other Users, communicate through messaging, and arrange to meet.

THE SERVICES ARE AN INTRODUCTION AND COMMUNICATION TOOL ONLY. COMPANY DOES NOT CONDUCT ROUTINE CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ON ALL USERS AND DOES NOT VERIFY THE IDENTITY, AGE, BACKGROUND, MARITAL STATUS, INTENTIONS, OR CHARACTER OF EVERY USER. COMPANY DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT ANY USER IS WHO THEY CLAIM TO BE, AND MAKES NO WARRANTY REGARDING THE CONDUCT OF ANY USER, ONLINE OR OFFLINE. USERS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN INTERACTIONS AND PERSONAL SAFETY.

1.4 Binding Effect

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by this Policy. This Policy applies to all Users and to all activity conducted through any account you control or access.

1.5 Relationship to Other Agreements

This Policy is incorporated by reference into and forms an integral part of the Terms. In the event of conflict, the following order of precedence applies: (i) any executed written agreement between the parties, (ii) this Policy, and (iii) the Terms. This Policy should also be read together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Community Guidelines, and Safety Tips.

Exception — dispute resolution. The order of precedence above does not apply to dispute resolution, governing law, or venue. Section 15 (Dispute Resolution) and Section 16 (Governing Law and Venue) of the Terms of Use govern all disputes between you and Company, including disputes arising out of or relating to this Policy, and prevail over Section 1.6 below in the event of any inconsistency. Section 1.6 restates those provisions for convenience and does not create a separate or additional dispute resolution mechanism.

1.6 Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

(a) Governing Law. This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to its conflicts of law principles.

(b) No Arbitration Requirement. This Policy does not require you to arbitrate any dispute. Disputes between you and Company are resolved in accordance with Section 15 of the Terms of Use: first through an informal dispute resolution process, and thereafter, if unresolved, in small claims court or in the courts identified in subsection (d) below.

(c) Informal Dispute Resolution. Before commencing proceedings, you agree to first send a written notice to [email protected] describing the dispute, the relief sought, and information sufficient to identify your account, as set out in Section 15a of the Terms of Use. The Parties will negotiate in good faith for a period of sixty (60) days from receipt of a completed notice. This requirement does not apply to claims filed in small claims court, and does not apply where applicable law provides otherwise.

(d) Venue. To the fullest extent allowable by law, any claim not resolved informally must be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in the State of Delaware, U.S.A. — except for (i) claims within the jurisdiction of a small claims court, which either party may elect to bring there, and (ii) claims by consumers residing in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction where such a forum selection is prohibited by law, who may bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence. Company may bring proceedings against such consumers only in the courts of the consumer's country of residence.

(e) Injunctive Relief. Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of intellectual property rights, confidential information, or proprietary rights.

(f) Mandatory Consumer Rights. Nothing in this Policy waives any mandatory consumer protection right, forum right, or dispute resolution mechanism available to you under the law of your jurisdiction of residence, including rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, the Swiss FADP, applicable United States state consumer protection statutes, or similar legislation, to the extent such waiver would be prohibited by applicable law.

(g) Limitation Period for Claims. Except where prohibited by applicable law, any claim or cause of action arising out of or relating to this Policy or the Services must be filed within one (1) year after such claim arose, or be forever barred. This limitation does not apply where the applicable law of your jurisdiction provides for a longer non-waivable limitation period, including for consumers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

(h) Claims Not Restricted. Nothing in this Section limits your right to report criminal conduct to law enforcement, to file a complaint with a data protection authority, consumer protection regulator, or other competent authority, or to pursue any claim or remedy that applicable law provides and that cannot be waived by agreement. This includes any private right of action available to you under a consumer health data law, as set out in Section 14 of our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

1.7 Policy Modifications

(a) Company reserves the right to modify this Policy at any time by posting an updated version on the Platform and providing notice to the email address associated with your account.

(b) Material changes become effective thirty (30) days after notice is provided. Non-material changes (clarifications, formatting updates, contact information changes) become effective immediately upon posting.

(c) Company shall clearly identify material changes in the notice provided.

(d) Continued use of the Services after the effective date of modifications constitutes acceptance of the modified Policy. If you do not agree to a modification, you may delete your account and contact [email protected] regarding any applicable refund rights.

(e) Notwithstanding the foregoing, Company may implement changes to this Policy required for the immediate protection of User safety, the safety of minors, or compliance with law, effective immediately upon posting.

1.8 Acceptance

Your initial access to or use of the Services following the Effective Date constitutes acceptance of this Policy. For existing Users, continued use after receiving notice of this Policy constitutes acceptance.

2. SCOPE AND APPLICABILITY

2.1 Covered Parties

This Policy applies to:

(a) Any individual who registers for, accesses, or uses the Services;

(b) Any individual accessing the Services through another User's credentials, whether or not authorized;

(c) Any individual who accesses public-facing portions of the Platform without registering an account; and

(d) Any individual attending or participating in events organized or promoted through the Services.

(b) All application programming interfaces made available by Company;

(c) All integrations with third-party services, including social authentication providers, payment processors, and platform app stores;

(d) All documentation, support materials, and other resources provided by Company; and

(e) All User Content and other data processed, stored, or transmitted through the Services.

2.3 Conduct Outside the Platform

Conduct occurring outside the Services may result in enforcement action under this Policy where it is directly connected to a User's use of the Services and where Company obtains credible information regarding it. This includes, without limitation:

(a) Conduct toward another User during or after an in-person meeting arranged through the Services, including sexual assault, violence, threats, coercion, theft, or fraud;

(b) Harassment, stalking, threats, or non-consensual distribution of Intimate Images directed at a User on other platforms where the connection originated through the Services;

(c) Criminal conviction or credible allegation of an offense that indicates a risk to the safety of other Users; and

(d) Conduct on other services operated by Company or its affiliates that resulted in a ban for safety, fraud, or abuse reasons.

2.4 Geographic Scope

(a) The Services are controlled and operated from the United States. User Content may be processed and stored in the United States and other jurisdictions where Company or its service providers maintain facilities.

(b) The Services may not be available or appropriate for use in all jurisdictions. You are responsible for determining whether your use of the Services complies with applicable law in your jurisdiction, including any law restricting online dating services, adult content, or the disclosure of sexual orientation.

(c) Company reserves the right to restrict availability of the Services in any jurisdiction at its discretion or as required by law.

2.5 Sanctions and Export Compliance

(a) You shall not access or use the Services from any jurisdiction where such access would violate applicable export control laws or economic sanctions.

(b) You represent that you are not identified on the U.S. Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List or any other applicable restricted party list.

(c) Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate access where Company reasonably believes continued access would violate applicable export control or sanctions laws.

3. PERMITTED USES

3.1 Authorized Personal Use

You may access and use the Services solely for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, including:

(a) Creating and maintaining a single Profile that accurately represents you;

(b) Browsing, searching, and receiving recommendations of other Users;

(c) Communicating with other Users through the messaging features provided;

(d) Arranging to meet other Users, at your own discretion and risk;

(e) Purchasing subscriptions and other paid features offered by Company;

(f) Adjusting your privacy, discovery, notification, and safety settings; and

(g) Reporting conduct or content that violates this Policy.

3.2 One Account Per Person

Each User may maintain one active account. Creating or operating multiple accounts is prohibited except where Company has expressly authorized it in writing, or where a previous account was closed and a new account is created in compliance with Section 6.4.

3.3 Accurate Self-Representation

You shall use your own photographs, your own accurate date of birth, and information that truthfully represents you. Aspirational, outdated, or flattering self-description is not a violation; impersonation, fabricated identity, and material misrepresentation of identity, age, or marital status are.

3.4 Data Export and Portability

You may request and receive a copy of your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. You may export or save your own User Content. You may not export, scrape, or systematically collect the content or personal data of other Users, as set out in Section 7.3.

3.5 Security Research

You may conduct good-faith security research relating to the Services, provided that you:

(i) Provide Company with prior written notice at [email protected] and receive written approval before commencing active testing;

(ii) Limit testing to your own account, and do not access, modify, or exfiltrate the account, User Content, or personal data of any other User;

(iii) Do not degrade, disrupt, or impair the Services for other Users;

(iv) Promptly report any vulnerability discovered to [email protected];

(v) Treat all findings as Company's confidential information; and

(vi) Allow Company ninety (90) days to remediate before any public disclosure, except where earlier disclosure is required by law.

Company may suspend research activities that violate these conditions or pose risk to Users. Testing that involves accessing another User's data is never authorized under this Section, regardless of intent.

4. PROHIBITED CONDUCT TOWARD OTHER USERS

This Section is the core of this Policy. Violations of this Section are grounds for immediate and permanent termination without prior warning.

You shall not:

4.1 Harassment and Abuse

(a) Harass, bully, intimidate, degrade, or repeatedly contact any User who has indicated they do not wish to be contacted, or who has blocked, unmatched, or declined you;

(b) Send abusive, threatening, hateful, or deliberately distressing messages;

(c) Engage in hate speech, or attack or demean any person on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, caste, disability, medical condition, age, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic;

4.4 Privacy Violations

(a) Publish or transmit another person's private information without their consent, including home address, workplace address, telephone number, email address, financial account information, identification documents, immigration status, medical or health information, or precise location ("doxxing");

(b) Disclose or threaten to disclose another User's sexual orientation, gender identity, HIV or other health status, or religious beliefs, whether learned through the Services or otherwise ("outing"). In some jurisdictions such disclosure exposes the affected person to criminal prosecution, violence, or death. Company treats this as among the most serious violations of this Policy;

(c) Screenshot, record, copy, or redistribute another User's Profile content, photographs, or private messages for the purpose of harassment, humiliation, mockery, or public exposure; or

(d) Use information obtained through the Services to locate, contact, or investigate a User outside the Services against their wishes.

(b) Solicit money, gifts, cryptocurrency, financial account access, or anything of value from any User, whether through romantic pretext, fabricated emergency, investment proposition, or otherwise (see also Section 6.2);

(c) Recruit any User into a scheme, organization, or arrangement involving commercial sexual activity; or

(d) Engage in, facilitate, or promote human trafficking, forced labor, sexual servitude, or any form of exploitation of any person.

4.6 Deception About Identity or Circumstances

(a) Impersonate any other person, whether real or fictitious, including celebrities, public figures, or other Users;

(b) Use photographs of any person other than yourself as your own, or images generated to depict a person who does not exist, in a manner intended to deceive;

(c) Materially misrepresent your age, and in particular represent yourself as an adult when you are a Minor, or as a Minor when you are an adult;

(d) Materially misrepresent your relationship status where doing so is intended to deceive a User into a relationship they would not otherwise enter, including concealing an existing marriage or partnership when a User has indicated this matters to them; or

(e) Operate an account on behalf of, or in coordination with, another person for the purpose of deceiving Users.

5. PROHIBITED CONTENT

You shall not submit, publish, transmit, or store any User Content that:

5.1 Illegal and Exploitative Content

(c) Constitutes phishing, or attempts to obtain another User's credentials, financial information, or identification documents; or

(d) Contains false or misleading claims presented as fact regarding public health, in a manner likely to cause physical harm.

5.6 Content Regarding Minors

(a) Any Profile content that presents a Minor as a User of the Services, or that presents an adult User in a manner designed to appeal to Minors;

(b) Photographs in which a Minor appears as the primary subject. Where a Minor appears incidentally in a photograph — for example, in a family photograph — that Minor's face must be obscured, and the photograph must not be sexual, suggestive, or focused on the Minor; and

(c) Request another User's financial account details, payment card information, banking credentials, or identification documents;

(d) Use another person's payment method without authorization, or engage in payment fraud, chargeback abuse, or subscription fraud;

(e) Operate as, or on behalf of, a coordinated fraud operation, including any arrangement in which multiple accounts are operated to defraud Users; or

(f) Launder money or facilitate any financial crime through the Services.

6.3 Automated and Inauthentic Activity

6.4 Circumvention of Restrictions

(b) Create multiple accounts to obtain repeated trial periods, promotional pricing, or free features;

(c) Circumvent technological measures implemented to meter usage, enforce pricing, restrict geography, or verify age; or

(d) Manipulate location data to misrepresent your geographic position, except through location features Company expressly provides.

(c) Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services, or breach security or authentication measures, except as expressly authorized under Section 3.5;

(d) Disable, circumvent, or interfere with security-related features of the Services, including content moderation systems, safety filters, blocking functionality, or age verification; or

(e) Access the Services through unauthorized third-party clients, modified applications, or emulation designed to bypass Platform controls.

7.2 Service Disruption

You shall not:

(a) Impose an unreasonable or disproportionate load on Company's infrastructure, including through denial-of-service attacks;

(b) Distribute viruses, malware, or other malicious code through the Services;

(c) Interfere with the proper working of the Services through any device, software, or routine; or

(d) Forge headers or manipulate identifiers to disguise the origin of content or traffic.

7.3 Scraping and Data Extraction

You shall not:

(a) Use crawlers, scrapers, spiders, or any automated means to access, extract, index, or collect Profile data, photographs, or other User Content;

(d) Use the "Meetville" name or logo in a manner that creates confusion or falsely suggests affiliation or endorsement; or

(e) Remove or alter copyright notices or proprietary rights notices within the Services.

8. AGE REQUIREMENTS AND CHILD SAFETY

This Section is subject to zero tolerance. No warning is given, no appeal succeeds on the basis of intent, and no exception applies.

8.1 Minimum Age

The Services are restricted to individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age or older, or the age of majority in the individual's jurisdiction where that age is higher. Registration by any Minor is prohibited.

8.2 Prohibition on Facilitating Minor Access

You shall not:

(a) Register for, create, or maintain an account if you are a Minor;

(b) Assist, permit, or enable any Minor to access or use the Services, including by creating an account on their behalf or sharing your account with them; or

(c) Misrepresent your date of birth at registration or at any later time.

8.3 Mandatory Reporting by Users

If you become aware, or reasonably suspect, that a User is a Minor, you must immediately cease all communication with that User and report the account through the in-Platform reporting mechanism or to [email protected]. Continuing to communicate with a User you suspect to be a Minor is itself a violation of this Policy.

8.4 Company Action

Company will:

(a) Terminate the account of any User determined to be a Minor and delete the associated Profile;

(b) Retain limited technical identifiers as necessary to prevent the individual from re-registering, as described in our Privacy Policy;

(c) Permanently terminate the account of any User who sexualizes, solicits, grooms, or expresses romantic or sexual interest in a Minor, or who submits, requests, or transmits content depicting the sexual exploitation of a Minor; and

(d) Report suspected child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement, and preserve associated data and evidence, as required by applicable law. Company will make such reports without notice to the User concerned.

8.5 No Presumption of Good Faith

Where content or conduct implicates the safety of Minors, Company does not weigh claimed intent, context, humor, or artistic purpose in deciding whether to act. Company acts first and evaluates afterward.

9. USER RESPONSIBILITIES

9.1 Account Security

You shall:

(a) Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials and not share them with any other person;

(b) Use a password meeting reasonable security standards and not reused from other services;

(c) Enable multi-factor authentication where made available;

(d) Notify Company at [email protected] promptly, and in any event within seventy-two (72) hours, after discovering unauthorized access to your account, unauthorized use of your credentials, or suspected account compromise; and

(e) Sign out of the Services on shared or public devices.

9.2 Accuracy of Information

You shall provide accurate registration information, including a valid email address or telephone number and your true date of birth, and shall keep this information current. You shall not knowingly submit content that infringes third-party rights.

9.3 Billing and Payment

(a) Billing Information. You shall provide accurate, current billing information including a valid payment method that you are authorized to use.

(b) Payment of Fees. You shall pay all applicable fees according to the subscription plan and pricing presented to you at the point of purchase. Fees, currency, billing intervals, and renewal terms are as displayed in the Platform or in the applicable app store at the time of purchase.

(c) Automatic Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period, in accordance with the terms presented at purchase and applicable law. Cancellation instructions are available in account settings and, for purchases made through an app store, in that app store's subscription management interface.

(d) Liability for Charges. You are responsible for all charges incurred through your account, except that you shall not be liable for unauthorized charges occurring after you have provided timely notice under Section 9.1(d), or for billing errors that you report within thirty (30) days and that Company verifies as erroneous.

(e) Disputed Charges. Notify Company at [email protected] of disputed charges within thirty (30) days, including your account information, the specific charge, the basis for the dispute, and supporting documentation. Company shall investigate and respond within fifteen (15) business days. Company shall not suspend the Services for non-payment of disputed amounts during investigation, provided undisputed charges are paid when due.

(f) Purchases Through App Stores. Where you purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or another platform, that platform's refund and cancellation terms govern the transaction, and Company may be unable to process refunds directly.

(g) Taxes. You are responsible for all applicable sales, use, value-added, and other taxes associated with your purchase, excluding taxes based on Company's income.

(h) No Refund for Termination for Cause. Where an account is terminated for violation of this Policy, no refund of prepaid fees shall be due, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

9.4 Personal Safety Responsibility

You are solely responsible for your own safety. You should:

(a) Meet other Users for the first time in a public place;

(b) Inform a trusted person of your plans, including whom you are meeting and where;

(c) Arrange your own transportation to and from any meeting;

(d) Not send money, financial information, or identification documents to any User;

(e) Not disclose your home address, workplace, financial details, or other sensitive information prematurely;

(f) Be cautious of Users who refuse video calls, decline to meet in public, profess strong emotional attachment unusually quickly, or introduce financial topics; and

(g) Report any User whose conduct concerns you, and contact local law enforcement in any situation involving threat, coercion, or physical harm.

These are recommendations, not a complete safety program, and following them does not eliminate risk.

9.5 Reporting Obligations

You shall promptly report to Company any conduct or content that violates this Policy, and in particular any conduct involving Minors, threats of violence, non-consensual intimate imagery, or financial fraud. Reports may be submitted through the in-Platform reporting mechanism or to [email protected].

9.6 Cooperation with Investigations

You shall provide reasonable cooperation in Company's investigation of Safety Incidents and Security Incidents affecting your account, including providing relevant information and preserving evidence, subject to your legal rights.

10. REPORTING, MODERATION, AND ENFORCEMENT

10.1 Reporting Mechanisms

Company provides in-Platform mechanisms for Users to report Profiles, messages, photographs, and conduct. Reports may also be submitted to [email protected].

Emergency Situations: If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Company is not an emergency service and cannot provide emergency response.

10.2 Company's Moderation Rights

Company reserves the right, but does not assume the obligation except as required by applicable law, to monitor, review, and moderate use of the Services in order to enforce this Policy, protect User safety, detect and prevent fraud and illegal activity, comply with legal obligations, and protect the rights and safety of Company, Users, and third parties.

Moderation may include automated content classification and detection systems, human review of reported and proactively flagged content, analysis of behavioral and usage patterns, review of messages where flagged by a report or automated system, device and network signal analysis for fraud and ban-evasion detection, and review of account metadata and access logs.

Company's review of reported content is governed by our Privacy Policy with respect to the personal data involved.

10.3 Investigation and Notice

Upon becoming aware of a suspected violation, Company may investigate and shall provide notice of the suspected violation at the email address associated with your account, except where:

(a) Providing notice would compromise an ongoing criminal or safety investigation;

(b) Company is prohibited from providing notice by law or court order;

(c) Immediate action is necessary to protect a User or other person from harm;

(d) The violation involves the safety of Minors; or

(e) Notice would enable the destruction of evidence or facilitate ban evasion.

You shall respond promptly to information requests, cooperate in good faith, and take immediate action to cure any curable violation.
