I currently work in industry, but I prefer research and academia. I am very passionate about the neotropics and I would like to design a graduate study looking at plant- At this time, graduate school is a priority in my life and it's important to me (if I become involved in a relationship), that my partner is incredibly supportive of my desire to do international research. I use to be a tree planter. I can be sensitive and emotional sometimes (I think this comes along with being a very passionate individual). I cried when the "tree of life" was destroyed in Avatar. I like too many things for my own good: Reading (currently reading "The Motorcycle Diaries" and "A Brief History of Nearly Everything"), writing, learning Spanish, ethic foods, eating healthy, cross country skiing, swimming, running, horses (I use to be a competitive rider, but now I simply ride for fun), backpacking (I've done a number of amazing trips), kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, going out for beers, museums, breakfast, wool socks, biology ID books, playing the guitar, piano and ukulele, primates, sleeping, building things, travel...etc.I've traveled to and/or lived in several countries and look forward to much more traveling in my life. I really love Latin culture and would love to bike around south America with the right partner one day. I don't wear makeup, and very rarely dress up... but if the occasion calls, I'll put on a stunning dress and drop some jaws. You:Are probably a well educated (perhaps even geeky - like myself), modest, passionate, somewhat athletic (because of all the cool activities you do), adventurous, down to earth, level-headed guy who's been moderately successful in life. You truly believe that people can be perfect together, and the idea of dating an ambitious, outspoken, quirky girl makes you smile. I prefer to do some type of activity on a first date... Came from a place where there wasn't much to do, so I'm looking forward to being in a big city! Recently finished nursing school - am looking forward to expanding my career. This is also one of the reasons why I moved to Calgary as there is a lot more opportunity for work and growth in the health care field.Friends and family are very important to me, so I always try to make as much time as I can to see them. With this move I'll be leaving a lot of family and friends behind so I'm hoping to use this time to focus on my career. I love all types of music. All depending on my mood my playlist ranges anywhere from top hits to any of the local bands around town. I'm not picky with different genres. Some of my favorite things to do are hopping in a car with no place to go, catching up with friends on the phone or going for a coffee, and taking my dog for long walks. Having a quiet night in is always nice too! With some free time I'm hoping to get back in to competitive rowing - Competed for 8 years before an injury that kept me from continuing. Hitting up the gym and going for runs is something I keep up with to stay healthy :) Or even just going for a long walk! Watching sports on TV is great too - but I would definitely prefer to play them. I'm looking for an honest guy to get to know, not rush in to things, and take it from there.
