To me there are four things that everyone needs in a relationship for it to be a healthy, happy & lasting relationship & those four things are- love, trust, honesty & communication. If your missing one of those four things it is very hard to keep your relationship together & for it to last. Without love what's the reason to be or stay in the relationship. If you can't communicate with your partner there already is a problem & your only gonna have more & if you don't have honesty in your relationship there is no way you will have trust.
