Suffice it to say I've got all my schnitzels together except for this. But rather than describe myself directly, I'll let you judge for yourself:Ramble on thought:I remember ages ago a friend who had just broken up with his gf of 4 years asking me how I could stand 5 minutes being single. At the time I'd never really thought about it. I'd always been single. The only negative thing I felt was a twinge of purposelessness from time to time.I kept a blog all through high-school and a few years into college for my own sake. It was my personal space for putting thoughts down on something more permanent than paper. I intended it to be written for anyone to see or to look back on myself years later, but it's strange that I never really expected anyone to comment on it, and I still don't know how widely it was read among my friends, or what their thoughts were reading it. Eventually I started posted every other week, then every other month and eventually stopped writing altogether. Looking back at the last 10 posts or so, I'm amazed at how clear my thinking had become. I would spend hours working on a single post just to solidify the thought in my mind as much as on the page. Since graduating with as many honors as an MS student can have (a paper and invitation to give a lecture at an international conference in my field) I'm being paid to think, and at the same time feel as if I've stopped thinking altogether. My supervisor told me yesterday as so many have before that he couldn't solve a differential equation to save his life. I'm now surrounded by adults 25 years or more my senior who continually assure me that I'm just a kid and that life is completely predictable from here on. I'm "Kiddo" now apparently.My purpose for thought seems to have changed from enlightenment to productivity, and I try to use my productivity to be happy, but when I was single the first time, enlightenment was the thing that made me happy.If you haven't noticed, I'm not the kind of guy you meet at a bar (not the one-liner type). I'm neither looking for someone like myself (because what would that add exactly) nor someone to save. I want someone to rediscover the world with, to go camping with (a fire and tent surrounded by the deep night as I recall), to be around to attend concerts with, to be happy with. I think we could plan to meet somewhere, but beyond that I dislike making plans for my free time when it can be avoided (my sister tells me I should move to Brasil ??). If we're hungry we eat, if the zoo's open we go there, but if we planned to do either we might miss everything in between. A first date should be mainly about us trading stories in a natural environment though.

After a brief hiatus, I'm giving this another try. I'm ultimately looking for a meaningful and strong relationship. That doesn't necessarily mean I'll rush things though. I have no problem taking it slow and casual. If it doesn't amount to anything more, then so be it. But if things were going well and moved quickly, well I wouldn't complain. I know what I want.I'm a Marine and I hate being judged negatively for it. While I completely understand why Marines tend to have the reputation that they do, we're not all like that. I myself generally don't even like most typical Marines. I've been in for 5 years and am on my second enlistment; I'm not some overly motivated boot. That said, I do have pride in what I do. But it doesn't solely define me. Another thing that bothers me is when people assume that just because someone doesn't have a college degree that they're not intelligent. I'm a very curious person who thoroughly enjoys learning. I also am trying to do something with my life. That means the Marines right now and who knows in the future. I have had a solid career so far and I mean to continue it. I'm definitely a fan of having four actual seasons. Though the south has grown on me. Family is very important to me no matter how much we fight or how much distance is between us. I like to think of myself as a nice, easy going guy. I try to find humor in every situation. I can be sarcastic and goofy but I know when to be serious. I'm not religious but I'm understanding of other people's beliefs. I still have my morals. I hate drama and dishonesty. I'm very passionate and affectionate and those things are very important to me in a partner as well. I'm confident in myself and won't waste my time playing games. I know who I am.When in a relationship, my significant other is my best friend. I enjoy spending the majority of my time with her. That doesn't make me dependent (I still need time for my friends and myself). I just know what I like. I love the outdoors and being active. Some activities I enjoy include hiking, camping, snowboarding, swimming, kayaking, and being at the beach. I also enjoy going out and exploring new restaurants and bars. I love listening to live, local music. But I love staying in, relaxing to a movie or a good TV show as well. More often than not I prefer cuddling up with someone special over partying with friends. I enjoy playing the guitar. I wish I played it as much as I used to. It's a skill that I taught myself, something I'm proud of. I'm obsessed with hockey. I try to play ice hockey at least once a week; nothing relaxes me more.Things I'm attracted to: confidence, intelligence (a little ditziness can be cute, too much is obnoxious), being able to hold a conversation, a sense of humor, aggressiveness (I have no problem taking charge and being the man, in fact I enjoy it. But it's attractive when a girl isn't afraid to make a move), a girl who not only can cook but enjoys doing it for someone special. Passion and affection are big with me.I'm not shallow but physical attraction is important. However it's not enough by itself. Personality is what will keep me around. A girl who isn't afraid to get aggresive and go for what they want is very attractive. I don't think I'm that picky. I just know what I want and deserve.Do not message me if: - you're too full of yourself (confidence is attractive, but too many girls on here seem to think they're gods gift to the world just because they get tons of messages from douche bags)- you aren't physically fit (you don't have to be a fitness model but I keep myself in good shape)I put time and effort into this so I wouldn't waste someone else's time nor my own. Something fun and relaxing where we can talk and get to know each other. I enjoy dinner and a movie but that's better suited for once you know each other well.
