About Me

I'm not exactly sure what to write here. I work a lot, with animals, so it goes without saying that I love them. I suppose in that regard, my job at least partially defines who I am. As far as my own pets are concerned, I have a border collie and two cats. My dog is my near constant companion. We participate in a variety of canine sports, and are very active in therapy work.I'm also a single father, and again, this partially defines me. Okay, it defines me, period. I love being a dad, I love my weekends with my daughter, I love parks, zoos, pony class, camping in the backyard, but NOT stickers. I hate stickers. I despise stickers. So why did I buy roughly ***for my daughter last night? Because that's what dad's do... that being said, realize that if we're to be involved, that you'll have to either be understanding of my time with my daughter, or be comfortable, and hopefully enjoy, tagging along with us occasionally. We're very active, and we're always out and about doing something. When I have free time I enjoy the outdoors. Hiking, backpacking, kayaking, etc.; I'm really interested in meeting someone who rock climbs. I've never been, but I'm dying to try. Despite the fact I routinely listen to death metal while working out in the gym, I'm a big classical music fan. I don't really drink, but I enjoy wine festivals. Odd, I know.I know it sounds like my life is very busy, and it is, but don't be fooled, I love my down time. Nothing beats a great nap, or a lazy day here and there, I just don't get them often. I honestly consider myself very low maintenance. I'm definitely not someone who needs to be constantly entertained. I'm just content to be in good company.Lastly, I'm very interested in meeting someone who is into volunteer, charity and/or therapy work of some kind. It's a big part of my life, and it's also something I'd like to involve my daughter in. She already accompanies my dog and I at times. I simply find that being involved in something bigger than yourself is important.

Man. 40 years old. Zodiac sign: Aquarius.

Looking for: woman. In age: 37-47

I am an easy going and fun guy who is looking for companionship. I am 40 although I don't look (or act it) most times. Most people have a difficult time believing I am not younger so I intend to enjoy that for as long as possible. I am looking to spend quality time with someone without expectation, judgement or pressure. Someone to go to a movie or dinner or whatever fun stuff we can think of. Maybe getting snuggled up under a blanket with some popcorn and a movie. Maybe a festival. or talking over coffee. Who knows? I am not looking for a marriage or anything too serious but I am open to where matters of the heart lead. I am also not looking to date a bunch of women either. Quality time is what I am seeking. Good conversation over a glass of wine or a long drive in the country talking. Or just hanging out having some fun with someone I enjoy. Sitting across a table from someone who is interested in what I have to say and who is saying interesting things. I am educated and professional and am self employed in the graphic design and marketing industry. Being self employed gives me a flexible schedule although sometimes deadlines must be met. Also being self employed I am no millionaire. I live a modest lifestyle and am happy that way. I can be goofy and silly at times but then other times I love to just sit with a book and enjoy the quiet. A good sense of humor ( I love to laugh) and a little bit of a sarcastic edge is a must. The ability to have stimulating conversation is also a must. I love to learn as much as I can about everything and I am also a history guy.I am honest, compassionate, affectionate and loyal to a fault at times. I love kids and am okay with someone who has children but I prefer to save meeting them for a little later.I have been a musician virtually my entire life so music is pretty much at my core. A woman who knows her music is a big plus in my book. I will admit to publicly disparaging many pop songs yet singing them endlessly when nobody is around. I'm really not into the bar scene. I have spent many years playing the local bars and at this point would prefer a wine tasting or art show as opposed to a nightclub. Although I do occasionally like to go out and party it up like everyone else, I will admit to also being somewhat of a homebody. I do like to get out and try new things though. I can get dressed up with the best of them but prefer jeans and a t-shirt. Who doesn't though right? I have spent a long time as a rock musician but these days prefer quieter acoustic stuff. I also love movies. Especially really bad movies. Bad scary movies, bad sci-fi... Whatever. As long as the acting is awful and the budget was low. I also like good and great movies as well of course. Not much of a TV guy as I feel that movies are far more engaging but I do have my guilty TV pleasures. Other things I enjoy are reading, restoring and decorating my home, looking for antiques, building ***, quality time with friends and family and way too much more to list. Not really a sports guy (except boxing) but I can get into them at times and can enjoy the experience. My ideal date would of course love some of the same things I do while offering new experiences and opportunities. I would love to expand my horizons and want to learn about what interests others. Smart women are the best. I love a girl that can be a princess at times but still willing to get their hands dirty. I am not a big burly guy so I like a petite woman. I don't workout 10 days a week or participate in triathalons but I am slender, fit and try to eat healthy. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. The end of my novel. If you like what you just read, get in touch. Let's see what happens. I think a great first date would be just hanging out and getting to know each other in a relaxed environment. Somewhere we are both comfortable. Coffee or wine? Someplace with a great feel that makes you not want to leave. Or doing something fun or silly like an arcade or people watching. People always go to movies where you can't talk, clubs where you can't talk and restaurants no real people can actually afford, while wearing clothes they would otherwise never wear to try to make a good impression or pretend they are wealthier than they are. I do OK but I am not rich and not trying to pretend to be. But I have a good time anyway. I like to get dressed up but prefer a t-shirt and jeans like everyone else. So let's just do that. I would rather meet the real and everyday somebody and have them meet the real and everyday me.

Looking for: woman. In age: 36-46

You're a thoughtful, loving, kind, clever, warm woman who hopes for a warm tender love in your future marriage. You have made a little bit of an effort at knowing who you are and what made/makes you tick and likes it when a man has done some of that too. As for me, remember that prof you had a little crush on in college? Well, I'm him- (he laughs- and shrugs). Seriously, though, I've been described over the years as good guy w/ a little naughty streak [in a good way that'll probably make you smile].... I'm not what you'd call uncurious, uncompassionate, unloving or uninterested in listening to what others think or feel. I'll emphasize that last part about knowing how to listen because I realize why it's important. But if you sometimes want more-- want me to help you figure out how to fix a prob, I get the word 'resourceful' pretty often. I have what some people call an observational-sarcastic sense of humor and love to be in laughing situations. At the same time, I'm not a person with no convictions. Far from it. Also, it's nice to just be in someone's presence where it's just plain comfortable. Wit's a turn-on [I hope it is for you, too]. So is kindness. Then again, so is occasional naughtiness.... I'm always on the look-Finally, if a couple, we should learn what gives us joy together and choose to face and resolve problems by listening and talking rather than withholding, because we know that all relationships are founded on choice and trust..
