I think the most important thing, even before the first date, is to see if there is a connection. For me, if I'm interested in someone, I like to meet casually first. I'm not one for endless back and forth e-mails. Let's meet in person. Maybe we'll meet for coffee or something, just to chat and get to know each other. It's nothing serious. Just a chance to see each other and see if we have a mutual interest. From there, I'm all for having an official first date. For that, I'm completely open. A quiet dinner at a restaurant works.
