I like to laugh, and am pretty happy generally with how my life is, I have great friends and I spend time with my family, I would just like a partner to share life with.I like to spend time at gallery openings, seeing live music, theatre, and dance, with a broad range of tastes in all. I love alternative rock and jazz and finding dives around the world to see it. I love outdoor concerts in the sun and intimate venues too. I love classical and singer/songwriter stuff. Not too much into country and Rap, although sometimes Stomping Tom or Johnny Cash are perfect for the moment. I love classical, especially chamber music, preferring small solos and quartets to large symphonies.I was hit by a car last March while riding my bike, a literal head-on collision with a minivan, so my physical activity is momentarily limited. I walk about 2- Can't wait to be back in top shape so I can enjoy my regular fare of running, cycling, hiking, snowshoeing, swimming...Throwing mid-week dinner parties is a worthy decadence. I cook like crazy, am half Italian and versed in French cooking, but most things I make are based on whole, organic foods made from scratch. I love fine dining and finding amazing hole-in-the-wall restaurants. I hate the word "foodie" and get called it a lot.I have travelled quite a bit and hope to do more. I like travelling in a variety of ways: road trips, backpacking or 5 star it, and pride myself on packing light. I have a passport, undies and a toothbrush in my purse at all times, ready for impromptu getaways.I am looking for someone who can hold a conversation, I like to talk about politics, religion and other topics that polite girls aren't supposed to broach, particularly over a bottle of a good red. On the other hand, I love puns, and being silly. I want someone who is a bit old fashioned, as I can't possibly make all the decisions and first moves. I like someone who has manners but is not pretentious. I don't want to be stood up, lied to or taken advantage of. I value quality over quantity. I need someone who is willing to put some time in to build trust, because I am shy and awkward at first, but open up to be warm and generous when I feel comfortable.Whew, okay, that is about as close as a textual representation I can make.     I would like to think that my last few years of single life have taught me a few things about myself.I've learned that patience is always a virtue, but sometimes too much can cause problems.I've learned that compromise is important but you also need to not be as flexible.I've learned that laughter is essential in everyday life along with hugs and kisses and hand holding.And most of all I have learned that you must must must communicate, no communication leads to confusion, leads to sadness, leads to misunderstandings and then everyone gets hurt.I'm a single mom who is involved in my childs life. But you can't beat a nice quiet night in with a silly movie, a serious movie or just a plain old scary movie....and a nice bottle of wine. Spending time with that special someone is important to me, but I do realize that space is needed sometimes to regroup and breathe.I have chosen a serious relationship as my ultimate goal, but first ....gotta meet, gotta date, gotta see if we can even stand eachother. Unless of course someone has invented a time warp to get us past the awkward confusing part of dating and get to the good stuff!!
