I am an outdoor cat, so to speak! Love kayaking, beach, fishing, hiking, scuba diving, anything near or on the water. I also like to go to plays, concerts, museums and other "indoor" activities, when the outside elements inhibit outdoor stuff. I love wine, and wine tasting dinners. I have passed through the "beer phase" I love to cook, specifically, paellas and other Latin/Spanish quisine. I work out every day (walk 4+ I have a bachelors degree in electrical engineering and a MBA and have taken extensive post graduate engineering classes. I love old cars, antique radios and designing/building my own furniture. I love animals, been a bird watcher/feeder for years, more a dog person than cat/bird. Love tropical fish, my maternal grandfather had a store selling them. I have a wide range of taste in music, from Latin, to rock to blues. I do not listen to rap or any of the noise spewed by the hip hop culture that seems so prevalent these days. First dates are a screening process, let's be honest. It's a first encounter to see if a second and further dates are warranted. That being said, I have made the mistake of dropping big bucks on initial dates to find that we have nothing in common. Waste of time and money. So, I have now decided that initial dates be ice cream/coffee/martinis/desert in a cool setting like Cafe Destare or the Dessert Bar where you can have a conversation and tune into the person you're speaking with. The really romantic stuff comes after a mutual decision that both reach after that first date, if successful. Second and subsequent dates, now that's another story. Country drives in the fall to have hot cider while picking the perfect pumpkin, or going out in the dead of winter to one of the tree farms to get that all-important fresh cut Christmas tree, those are the things that make life worth living.
