About Me

I am truly a happy person and I would love to meet a special man with whom to share my joy. I am looking for a committed relationship, but hope to find someone who understands that relationships and the trust that goes with them take time. I'm willing to make the investment. I am looking for someone who gets that at this stage of life, wisdom accompanies recognition and acceptance of imperfection. Smiles come easy to me and a sense of humor in a man is essential. I have reached a point in my life where my time is free to dedicate on other pursuits after years as a dedicated, single mom. My daughter is fabulous and in college and I see her whenever I can. I create a busy life for myself, but don't be discouraged! I will reorganize to spend time with the right person. I am a passionate person, about many things. I hope you are too! I love to see live music (especially at outdoor venues), venture out to new places, take in festivals of any kind, stay in with friends by the pool or chiminea, travel to the lake, kayak, dance to country, blues, or just about anything. I work out regularly at a gym, sing in a choir, create unique, healthy and delicious meals and sample wine given any opportunity. I enjoy the outdoors, camping and even fishing. Quiet time by the lake or campfire is pure joy. Beaches are my preference. (Not much of a cold weather gal, but I have been known to read by the fire and work out in the gym to hang with the snow bunnies.) I'm a dog (not a cat) person (sorry I'm allergic). I like to travel but admittedly most of my travels have remained domestic. Hoping to expand those horizons.My friendships are extremely important to me and I am committed to maintaining them.I'm a hard worker and have a career that I thoroughly enjoy and in which I take pride. I like to believe that I make a difference in the world. My free time, however, is the most important time to me. I am an extrovert and people person and love engaging in conversation. I believe that communication is essential to any relationship.I am a strong person, probably a factor of many life challenges. I believe in doing the right thing. I am outspoken and direct.I do not debate politics, but if you can't tolerate a liberal mindset, we will not be a good match.I am looking for a true partner in a man, someone I know will have my back and I his. I have learned to open my heart and am excited about the prospect of someone truly touching it again. Mutual respect and support seem hard to come by at this stage of life and I wonder why that is. I'm willing to keep trying until I find him. Some of the qualities I look for in a man: funny, intelligent, self-confident, kind, appreciative and respectful of women. Above all, he should be a good communicator. I hope for a partner with whom the hours will race because there is so much to learn and understand about each other. I'm not one to pretend to please and do not misrepresent who I am inside and am looking for like qualities in a man. I like an accomplished man but run from arrogance and if you get that, bingo! I have a very down to earth nature.Finally, I am most attracted to men who lead a healthy lifestyle (meaning they take care of their minds and their bodies) and who are "gentlemen" in the old fashioned sense. In spite of my strength, I like to be treated like a "lady." Who doesn't like being made to feel special? Yes, I am a romantic. :-) I am also a realist.     Sign of the times that we have this new way of making contact with others who have the same goals. I'm new to it but open and optimistic that it is possible to meet someone??!! I have been on my own for several years now and have made some big changes to embrace my new life. Having always been a "beach girl" at heart, living in Silicon Valley for many years always felt somewhat stifling. Last month I moved to one of the beautiful SoCal beach cities! I am really looking forward to getting settled in and find my way around. I have four beautiful, crazy, funny, unique kids that keep my life from ever being dull and boring. I must warn anyone reading this, only one is out of the nest. Fortunately, I have a great co-parenting situation so I am NOT looking for a father for them and I DO have some free time! Free time, I am creative and love to paint, design, collect things. I am passionate about houses. Specifically old houses and have had the good fortune to renovate multiple old homes. I love the entire process from finding the perfect project through all the stages until a wonderful home is completed. I love being physically active. Run, walk, hike, yoga, dance. I am going to get a pair of rollerblades ASAP for use on the Strand. As for a profession, I was a nurse but it has been many years since I have practiced. I miss it and might think of a way to get back into the field at some point. The adrenaline junkie in me misses the intensity of a busy ICU. what else?! Guess I should mention that I have no sense of humor what so ever. I am never entertained by the absurd and unique oddities of life. I like my men boring as a rock. If you are the type that would make me laugh, like the kind of laughing that would make you snort, forget it. And teasing, kidding and being playful is definitely out. What good is any of that? Intelligence and being very physical, also very low priority on my bucket list. Hmmm Oh my gosh, I am adding this last sentence because someone actually thought I was serious about my previous paragraph and compared me to their ex! Seriously!?
