I've been telling my friends that I'd like to be in about year two of a healthy relationship--when you already know each other and care about each other and have decided your partner's irritating habits aren't the end of the world. Of course, I'm not going to get there without going out on some dates ...So, me. I'm very active--I do triathlon so I spend a lot of time swimming, biking, and running. I also mountain bike, hike with the dog, camp, and recently tried stand-up paddle boarding. However, there's definitely something to be said for downtime--chilling with friends over food and beers, working on a project, reading, or cuddling on the sofa watching a movie. I'm definitely not go-go-go all the time. When it comes to belief systems and politics and all that, I definitely skew far left and atheistic (or at least agnostic). If you're a knee-jerk conservative we're probably not going to get along. Ideally I'd like to find someone who, like me, has a rich and full life but would like to make room to share part of it with someone great. I think it's impossible to make a list of "must have" qualities for a potential partner--it's impossible to predict who exactly will make your heart pitter patter. That said, I do find myself drawn to individuals who are thoughtful, curious, and engaged in life, have a multitude of interests (some of which they might share with me), and are comfortable in their own skin. You know I think we all believe that we are fun, happy, interesting people. So I guess I should talk about what I like to do. I enjoy reading books, primarily fiction. I like listening to music and going to concerts and to see bands locally. I listen to classic rock, current rock, some alternative music, heavy metal, top 20 and dance music, so just about anything on the radio. I get a kick out of being silly and dancing in the living room or singing along to my favorite songs, those are two of my stress relievers!! I love going camping in the warmer weather and usually go several weekends a year. I like cuddling up on the couch to watch a movie or a good football game. I enjoy doing things with my kids like going to the park or some place like Christmas Village. Halloween and Christmas are my favorite holidays and I try to decorate and make them fun!!Things I hate are people that sit on their butt and let everyone else do all the work, CHEATERS!!, anyone who is into drugs or who is self absorbed and rude. If you possess any of these qualities, please move on. I have never been afraid of a little hard work and believe that if something is worth doing it should be done the right way the first time, that does not mean I am a perfectionist I just hate always hearing "good enough". I have worked very hard to get where I am in life and I am pretty happy with where that has led me, but I really would love to have someone to share it with. My ideal first date would be very simple like going out to eat and getting a chance to talk and try to see if we have anything in common and enjoy each others company. I think it is important to meet, get over the nervous part and find out if we can hold a conversation.
