It indeed takes a special kind of love to be able to foster children, knowing that they may not stay forever (even when I hope that they will), but it is a fulfilling and needed job. Somehow, it opens your heart even more. It has shown me how much I enjoy being a mother and having a family, and running a home with others in it.
