Is anyone really good at writing these things? I keep planning on composing something really thoughtful or profound that will leave the reader dying to meet. Alas, the truth is that I'm just a genuine person who is caring, respectful, confident and filled with positive energy and a warm disposition. The guideline advises to talk about hobbies, yourself and what makes you unique and taste in music. So... hobbies are mostly activity related - love biking, swimming, skiing, hiking, exploring. I also enjoy good food & good wine (sometimes a tad too much!). I don't know if this makes me unique, but I'm here to meet someone. I hear these stories about guys wanting to ***, chat, etc for weeks and weeks. That's not me. If we speak or *** times, I want to meet up. For goodness sake, why else would one be on a dating site?!? I love music (perhaps another hobby). I have a 12,***song collection in iTunes - tons of rock, blues & soul. To me, a night out consisting of a good meal with friends and then seeing live music is hard to beat!I'm a person who stays busy with friends, activities and some personal & work related travel. It sure would be nice to meet someone and create the special & secure feeling of having a "connection" in life.I'm plagiarizing from "The Bucket List" but I think a good measure of success and purpose in life is answering yes to "have you had joy in life" and "have you brought joy to others"........on both counts, I'm trying! I think a 1st date is about simply seeing if there's any chance of a match so my idea of a good first date is any place where two people can sit and talk without too many crazy distractions. Now the second date, there's the question!

So who am I? I am me, just me and I'm comfortable with that. I hope you can be too. I am a simple kind of guy who likes being out doors, cooking good food (no junk), matched with a fine vintage and great company, bonfires in the back yard, taking in a show, camping by a hidden stream, a long walk through the park or just sitting around sharing a coffee. Other times I can be found letting my creative side run wild in my workshop. I work hard to stay in good shape – and I expect that you do too. Lately, I’ve been learning golf and would love a partner to share the pain. There is a little bit of a wild side to me too. I have lived in a handful of countries and traveled to a bunch more; climbed the high mountains, skied the powdered slopes, carried my pack through the lush valleys and rafted the wild rivers. I don't think I’ve ever met a beach I didn't like but if I do, there's always scuba or sailing. I’ve been fascinated by great cities, museums, old castles, classic churches and also some real “backwaters” all over the world. It is the candy that adds spice to life.My ideal companion would be classy, confident and comfortable with herself; sharp, witty and honest, with a positive attitude and a quick smile, a woman who is relaxed and flexible, a lady with an imagination who shares the same vision and is willing to try new things. A few other things that I have learned along the way• I am a single dad to a couple of great kids. They may be older but please understand they will always come first.• It’s OK to go slow. I enjoyed being married but that does not mean I need to be back there right away. I am looking for a partnership, not a rescue mission. I can be kind of shy at first but open up once I’m comfortable. Let’s really get to know each other first.• Check your baggage at the dock. I understand that most of us have been severely wounded on the way here but yesterday is not an excuse for today. Let’s make the fishing fun and enjoy the new day.• I am a “can do” guy who is open to new things. Handy, creative and energetic, if the reward is worth the cost / risk, I will make it happen. It’s amazing what you can do if you believe. Also, I am no longer 47 but could not handle using a 5 in my age and now this site won't let me change it.If all this has not scared you off, then mail me – preferably with a little more than “Hi” to tell me why you think we might match. I will do my best to reply. Of course, I expect the same in return. (I hate *** I am not big on internet ping pong so let's get it over with quickly and meet - see who we really are.Drinks, coffee or a walk in the park and if it is working, maybe more. My shout.Or, if you have a fun idea, let's give it a shot. I like trying new things.
