Hi, this site was suggested by a friend so I thought I'd give it a try. I'd like to meet a genuine and open-minded person for fun, friendship, someone to have a good time and conversation with. Much prefer to get out down to the beach, have a decent walk and enjoy the fresh air. I love cooking and good food, I'm usually told I'm a good cook, I find it a great way to relax. I love to listen to music, lots of stuff, anything from the seventies to today, it would be great to get back into going to live music, concerts. Meet up in a coffee shop or pub, have a drink, chat and get to know one another.

I've lived a single life happily for quite a while, though maybe it's time I applied a little more effort to form female friendships.Life always tends to be very busy through work committments; like many others on here I guess. I also lead a fairly active life away from work. I've attended Latin/Ballroom Dance classes since January '08 and really enjoy it and I've also attended some modern Jive classes too. These can be great fun, though I have a preference for L & B; it's more of a challenge to learn! I like to go swimming once a week and my preferred method of transport is walking. I maintain an interest in ongoing learning and I'm always trying to find some interesting course or another to attend like fitting solar panels or trying to improve my french language skills. I prefer the simpler things in life; not a person driven by material needs. I enjoy good conversation, history, culture and generally taking an interest in what's happening around me. Like most pepole, I have a mixed taste in music, though I do enjoy listening to some of the music from the 80's/70's and earlier. One of my more unusual double albums would have to be: The Fureys (25th Anniversary Collection); a real mix of old songs/ballads. A former colleague was forever whistling 'Magic Moments. A Country Pub perhaps.

I am usually not stuck for words and generally good at writing a piece but I must say this is quite different. Anyway here goes....I have been very fortunate to have had a happy marriage until my wife passed away this year after a long battle, so difficult times my two grown up sons and I never envisaged we would face. Life is too short to be angry or sad and through positive thinking I believe pathways can be adjusted to settle once again. So here I am looking for a lady that can make me smile, someone I can spend my quiet downtime with who has similar interests and outlook. I have travelled quite a distance personally and through my work but more recently have decided to enjoy local life. I try and keep fit going to the gym, swimming etc. as often as I can as exercise undoubtedly makes you feel better to take on the day. I do enjoy fine dining, most music, dancing etc. and will give home cooking a go but will not lie that I am that good. That probably goes for the dancing too. I would be very happy to meet up with you for a coffee or drink wherever convenient to enjoy your company and hopefully we can both put the world to rights.
