The first thing you need to know about me, that I'm a Christian and church and my faith are very important to me. If that's a problem for you, we probably wouldn't work out.I'm compassionate and caring and tender-hearted which also means I can be emotional and things that some people can brush off as no big deal tend to be a bigger deal to me. I hate conflict and like to resolve things quickly *** letting things go unsaid. I am a giver. I like to do things for people that I love and don't expect things in return (gratitude goes a long way). I'm loyal to a fault. I work as a classroom assistant with preschool and kindergarten children and I love my job. I've been there for 5 years and honestly can't see myself doing anything different. I'm an artist and have several of the quirks that come w/ being an artist (but not a too many). I dabble in painting, pottery/clay, mixed media, jewelry, and just whatever random creative thing pops into my head. :) I don't necessarily need to date someone who is artistic, but would probably like being w/ someone who at least appreciates what I do. Going out and being with people is great, but sometimes the best thing is cuddling up on the couch to watch a movie. I like to dress up and go to nice places but I also don't mind getting dirty. The one thing I want more than anything is to be a wife and mom. I want to stay at home and raise my own kids as opposed to having a nanny or a daycare do it. I have pretty traditional values. Some might say old fashioned. I want a man who will open the door for me, pull out my chair, and do all those chivalrous things that so many women don't like these days because they're too independent. I know I have high standards and I know it makes this whole process more difficult, but I also know that men like this exist so I'm willing to hold out and wait for what I want. I have dreams of traveling the world but I'm not doing a great job at fulfilling those dreams as of yet. Coffee. Drinks. A park. Something casual and comfortable for the first date for sure.

Hello! I am definitely looking for a relationship, but I'd also love to just make friends, too! I love to be near the ocean, whether that means on the beach collecting shells or seaglass, swimming/snorkeling, or boating (sailing or kayaking are my favorites). My job lets me be near the ocean quite frequently, so that's a good perk. I finished graduate school (biological oceanography) last January and now I'm a post doc. I like research, but I really hope to have a career that lets me teach, possibly at a liberal arts college. I love ocean science and I think the best part is watching students discover how cool marine organisms are! Yes, I am a nerd, but very proud of it! My preference for weekends would be to spend time with friends or family. Game nights are one of my favorite activities for staying in! My favorite game is Ticket to Ride, but I really enjoy many board games. If I'm going out, I like all kinds of live music performances, from classical to folk, contra dancing, theater, movies, bowling. I don't really like going to bars - I find them to be too loud to have a good conversation and I'd rather buy some wine or a 6 pack and hang out at a friend's house. I do enjoy going out to restaurants, but I also like cooking at home, especially when friends come over! I also like to go on hikes and walks.I am unique because I come with a large tool set. My dad raised me to be able to do maintainance around a home. I am very handy - I have built a bed, a bookshelf, and a very special planter for my mom, among others. I have refinished two tables and am currently working on a bookshelf. I was recently given an beautiful antique apothecary chest and I'm trying to figure out the best way to restore it. I also have a reasonable amount of experience with light electrical work and plumbing. I don't know a lot of current pop music because I tend to listen to NPR *** music stations on the radio. I have a very broad music collection, but I tend to get into moods where I listen to one group or genre a lot for a while and then switch to another group or genre for a while. I come off as being more reserved than I actually am. People are often surprised when they get to know me. It's probably because I am rather shy with new people.I love reading, but I find I don't have a lot of time to read. ***, I listen to audiobooks during my commute and while doing lab work. Yes, I know he is a bigot and has said really awful things. I completely disagree with those viewpoints, but I find his writing to be very sensitive and caring, not at all preachy or hateful. It's a little hard for me to reconcile those differences!I am very liberal, both politically and socially. I could probably be in a relationship with someone who is fiscally conservative, but I think I would find it hard to be with someone who is socially conservative.I have two lovely cats, but that is my limit! I think more than two leads down a slippery slope to cat lady. Two cats can keep each other company while I'm at work! I think a good first date would be going out for coffee or dinner and then bowling. I wouldn't necessarily want to go to a movie or concert of a first date because you don't get the opportunity to get to know each other.My ideal day-long date (but not for a first date) would be to start by kayaking to an island where we'd have a picnic lunch and walk around for a while and then paddle some more. Once back on land, we'd go out for dinner (I love Indian food!), followed by a local concert. Then we'd head home!
