I hate talking about myself, but I'll do my best to give you an idea of just how strange I am. So here goes...I’m debt free, I live by myself, I pay my own bills, I have a job, I own a car, I wear socks that match, and I love my family. That should about cover it, eh? I believe in treating a lady like a goddess. Opening doors, giving my undivided attention and communicating are not foreign concepts to me. I am a father of 4 adults and grandfather of 2 little ones. My kids and my grandkids are the most important people in the world to me. I thought I would throw out some key words that would describe what I like to do. If you recognize yourself in some of them, I think it might be worth taking the time to keep on reading my profile. If you don’t keep on reading, I swear I won’t be upset with you. I will never know anyway. Travel, music, sports, books, last minute plans, open mind, photography, museum, craziness, spontaneity, sharing, simplicity, respect, down to earth people, casual, news, work, sense of humor about yourself, awareness. And yet another (very) short list of things that I’m not really fond of: - Self-centered people (but, hey… Have you ever heard anybody saying “yes, yes, I am definitely self-centered.”? So this one doesn’t really count!!***Superficial people (same problem as #1…***Political correctness - Racism As for who I’m looking for, I think this says it best: "You know what I look for in a female these days? A heartbeat and a full set of limbs. That’s just a starting point. I might compromise on the limbs.” - Nick Nolte as Katz, “A Walk in the Woods.” Kidding!!! What I’m really looking for: Family oriented, honest, emotionally mature, reasonably smart and understands my sarcastic sense of humor,, likes to travel. UPDATE: Very tired of being strung along, only to be let down. If you say you’re looking for a relationship, be ready to actually pursue a relationship, not be a text buddy making excuses for not meeting. We’re too old for middle school type games. Don’t waste my time or yours. ANOTHER UPDATE: Relationships aren't easy. They take WORK and that is a four letter word. We think one of the hardest things is to know when to call it quits. Sometimes the pain is insurmountable. Going thru the guilt, regrets, lost time and harsh words spoken seem to overshadow when it was good. It's easier to remember the bad at such a time because if it wasn't bad then it would have worked right? Not so much. In retrospect, and digesting relationships in the entirety, there can be a false sense of security and lack of absolute honesty with oneself. While one should not shoulder all the blame, we must take on our fair share and be dedicated to working on not hurting someone, including ourselves, like that again. The love didn't go away just because of the pain. It rests in a part of the heart. One would think that, in time, there wouldn't be any more heart left to give Not so much. The heart grows over the years from the scars and becomes this pounding muscle intent on working to just make things better. The heart will know laughter again- yet it will be different. The heart will know joy and peace and harmony- yet it will be different. If it does not become different then nothing will ever change. And if nothing changes then literally nothing changes. Love is work. Once one realizes that, then the decision is not whether or not to love again, it's how much work one will be willing to do to make sure the scars won't overshadow the new skin developed from growing. And only thru loving oneself FIRST can one ever become this little ray of sunsine to others. Life is about giving back to others. If giving back comes naturally then you know your purpose and never stop doing it or let someone make you believe you aren't who you were meant to be, who you were born to be.
