My marriage ended about five years ago. It taught me what I don't want. I've been in one relationship since, which has ended, yes, but thankfully taught me much about what I do want. My experience when I was last here, a few years ago, was a good one and my experience since I've returned has been rewarding, too. I've met some great people, but I'm afraid THE ONE has eluded me.I should say that I'm not in the mood to force a relationship toward the long term, and yet at the same time I would love to find myself involved in something in which I would like that very much. Who doesn't want to fall in love, anyway?Identifying THE ONE is difficult, but nothing's more important than chemistry. You just have to turn each other on. Also, it's just a starting point. There's respect and communication and the way you view the world. It's a long list, though most factors are pretty variable. Let's just say you have to want each other, respect each other and understand each other. That can take a very long way. Then comes interests, passions and thoughts which, by the way, requires reading profiles, which I do.I'm a long-time sportswriter and it's certainly a different kind of job ripe with plusses and minuses, though I guess it has suited me. My primary interests outside of work are my almost college- If that sounds scary, just know that I'm very responsible with my resources and have been debt free for a very long time.I'm a child of the 80s and my music and pop culture identification reflect that immensely (I want my MTV!). Still love old U2 and REM. Still love Depeche Mode, Erasure, Echo and the Bunnymen and others of that realm. I don't know if prog rock is my favorite genre, but it claims my favorite band, Rush.Politics are no small thing to me. I'm an unapologetic liberal, but will get along with anybody who counts themselves intellectually curious with an ability to think for themselves. If you self-identify as a tea-partier, we're not going to get along. Sorry. A principled conservative? At least we'll have something to talk about.Religion is not a part of my life.Too busy trying to be a good person.Pressed, I will claim myself an agnostic (not an atheist, there's a profound difference).****… good gracious we may be meant for each other.Goals and aspirations?I want to be happy. I want to be secure. I want to matter. I want to be vitalI want the great relationship and I'm prepared to find it. It could come now or later.I'm also prepared to meet fantastic people along the way. Drinks?Maybe dinner.I want getting to know you to be the primary activity. If the evening calls for more, adjustments can be made.
