I'm sure after reading my headline, you can see that I have a deep admiration for heavy metal music! On a serious note, I do love listening to live music. The genre really doesn't matter. I believe that listening to live music, seeing plays and other live performances enhances who we are and gives us an appreciation for the talent residing in our fellow man. I also enjoy cooking! I am a bit of a foodie...I tend to like the more exotic types of food, but really nothing gross...haha. That is definitely an activity that is more enjoyable with someone sitting across from you with some great music in the background. I enjoy traveling and being outdoors; the activity is definitely secondary. I enjoy reading, and I am an avid movie goer also.Naturally I am looking for someone who shares these interests, however I am completely open to new things and meeting great people. For me conversation is the key! The ideal first date involves great conversation at a place with really cool atmosphere. It doesn't necessarily have to involve dinner. I have a wicked sense of humor and can make anybody laugh at any time. I can be crude and crass, and I sometimes push the limits with my humor, but I am aware of my surroundings and the company I am with, and tailor my humor to the environment. I enjoy picking on myself and laughing at myself as much as I do everybody else, and I can take it with a smile and quick wit when you poke fun at my expense.I have been told that I am very attentive - I am a details person, so I pay attention and like to ask questions. I want to get to KNOW somebody, and let them know who I am, and what I am about, and what I want. Why waste time with a person if the likes, dislikes, and commonalities are disjointed? Friendship is an important first step towards a relationship. At the same time, the only way to find out how compatible you are is to talk with said person on a frequent basis and go out often. Otherwise, it may take WEEKS or even MONTHS to find out you're not compatible.I am very affectionate, and could be (am?) labeled "touchy-feely". I know the 5 Love Languages, and which ones I am, and how to recognize and interact with the others (something I could have used a few years back). I have spent a lot of time analyzing what went wrong and how to prevent it the next (and hopefully final) time. I REALLY expect people to (mostly?) understand the English language and the proper use of "its" and "it's" and "there," they're," and "their." This is an actual profile I found - the WHOLE thing - "IM laid bk so dnt cum ta me with drama or games I hate liers." Seriously. I could not make that up! I also speak some Spanish and German (and would love to learn more and/or become fluent).I have a (fairly) stable life, a stable job, two kids (50% of the time), my own house, etc... I coach and play soccer year-round. I try to visit both of my kids' schools to have lunch with them once a week. I rarely (if ever) miss anything they do (I'm usually coaching or volunteering in some other way).I watch the news and read a lot of online news - technology, science, politics, etc... (Though I don't necessarily like TALKING politics). I know what's going on in my town, state, country, and world. Entertainment Tonight is NOT news.I'm usually always reading a computer book of sorts - picking up a new programming language, or expanding my knowledge of one I know.I'm a car guy - love sportscars (Corvettes, specifically), muscle cars, and Jeeps. I have had my mechanic's license just because I can, even though I've never been a mechanic (I'm a well-rounded car and computer geek). We camp in a tent, but the campground has clean restrooms and showers, and a heated pool. :-) I have camped in very rustic (read the middle of NOWHERE) places before, where they "may" have outhouses....I don't hunt or fish, though I don't have a problem with it; it's just not my thing. I also don't eat fish, especially if it's raw, but I do love crab legs.I am big into nature, natural beauty, and history. I have a bucket list of about 30 places to visit with the kids before they graduate - from National Parks and Monuments (a majority) to museums, battlefields, and amusement parks.- Smithsonian, Vietnam Memorial, etc...Musically I like about everything a guy my age should. I'm a huge country music fan, from Hank to Hank Jr, LOVE Chris Ledoux. I'm not afraid to don a pair of cowboy boots and a western / cowboy look. I like to play air drums in the car, and air guitar when nobody is paying attention. I am the guy that when a song come on the radio, I say, "WHO SINGS THIS?" to anybody in earshot.Lastly, and maybe you've actually read this far, but I am very picky in what I am looking for. On top of compatibility with the afore-mentioned traits, hobbies, and personality, I am looking for more of a slender, thin, or athletic body type. No offense, just my preference.I could probably ramble on all day, but I'll leave it here for now.
