I'm an average girl with a big heart. I have some outstanding friends in the area, but the dating scene is pretty scarce. Some of my favorites are volunteering, live music, sporting events, breweries and wineries, exercising, making people laugh, and the obvious.. My amazing family and friends! :) The choice is yours! However, it would be nice to hear you won't be pulling a "Craigslist Serial Killer" move on me. Sorry gents, that's where I draw the line.

I am currently a PhD student in anthropology, and my research focuses on family formation behaviors among young-ish adults in Bangkok, Thailand. Once upon a time I lived in Thailand for two years, which means that I speak decent Thai AND I can tell you where to get the best Thai food in NYC (Quees, obviously). However, I have always dreamed of living in France and maybe that will happen someday...briefly, because this city is my true home. The French language was one of my first loves, though. So, at the risk of sounding uppity, I will tell you that I love French films and also wine (which, fortunately, requires minimal language skills to order, because my French has gotten a bit rusty). If money was not an issue, I would become a poet. I used to write very seriously when I was younger, but have lost it a bit. So, this semester I am taking a poetry writing workshop while also teaching two undergraduate anthropology classes. Now that I think about it, being a grad student doesn't pay well either. Maybe I should have become a poet after all! Seeing friends ideally involves wine and/or delicious food (and NB: I am carnivorous! No tofu for me). Don't be fooled, though, I am not much of a cook. This is less because I am not good at cooking and more because I usually get home late-ish and I am too lazy to make much of anything. Finally, in case I sound like I spend all of my time either being intellectual, exercising, or having a quiet drink, I make a point of staying out late dancing from time to time. I love to dance and also to know that I can still stay out until 4am. Sometimes. And even if the next day hurts a lot more than it used to. I like a simple first date that allows for some good conversation. Getting drinks is a good way to go, and can possibly extend to dinner if it goes well. More fun and interesting dates (e.g.

I am a single mother, work fulltime and go to school fulltime. I currently dont have my daughter but she is 3. So its essential that wont be a problem for anyone interested in me. I am going to school to become a nurse but I really just started. Im looking for someone just to spend my extra time with and see where it goes. I'm pretty easy going on what to do for a first date. So long as you dont think your getting laid im sure it will go pretty well. But idealy the first date would be movies or dinner.
