I was born and raised in the boondocks of the bay area, spent four years dealing with orange county, loved san Diego for the past six years, and just landed myself back in the bay. Yes, I'm tall. Yes, I like tall guys. Now that thats cleared up, I love mushrooms on my pizza. Listening to rain mellows me out. I can make a mean mai tai. Bad table manners is a great way for me to hate someone. 'Please,' 'Thank you,' 'You're welcome,' and 'I'm sorry' are in my vocab and I'm not afraid to use them - neither should you. I own a ton of movies but no cable. I call my family a lot. I love to read. My dog is the cutest lil guy you'll meet. Pink is my favorite color. I love living near wine country. Cupcaking is a verb I use in daily life, and while it may cause an occasional giggle, it has yet to draw complaint. Metallica was the best concert I've seen. Margaritas and Wii = a great night. I hate the trend of leaving the stickers on baseball caps. I am and will always be a sf giants fan. I really want to get over to Ireland one day. And if you get to know me - I'm probably one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.I think first dates have the equal potential for greatness and lameness. Its all in the delivery!

I'm retired but still full of spirit and silliness and think of myself as an individualist. My photos are recent and have been told I look quite sophisticated. It's how I look, NOT how I am. Actually, I'm very down-to-earth and unpretentious and prefer people who are the same. I was blessed to have inherited my Dad's sense of humor and you'll usually find me smiling or laughing at the absurdities of life. I usually make the best of things even when they don't go my way. I enjoy my home but like getting out, seeing new places and trying new things. I enjoy using my mind and have an interest in a wide variety of things. The things that make me most happy are very often the simplest things... time with friends, flea markets & yard sales (hoping to find an unexpected treasure), people watching, preparing a meal together (I'm a pretty good cook), going for a drive stopping for lunch at some charming spot we will find along the way. I've been single for a very long time and to tell the truth, I've never found the single life particularly satisfying. I enjoy being with others and what would make me most happy would be to find a parter I can love and cherish and share the joys life has to offer. I'm affectionate but not over-bearing, intelligent but not a know-it-all and I am considerate and thoughtful of others. There are many things I enjoy, but doing becomes delight when I can share it with the one I love. Honesty is most important and I treat others, including myself, with respect and fairness. Being able to share some of my interests with my partner is important to me but I think the most important thing to share is our values, our ability to communicate with each other and our willingness to compromise when we disagree. I think it's also important to respect our needs for private time.I have a delightful dog, a Havapoo (Havanese/poodle) who goes by the name, Shana. She's 12 lbs, very sweet and calm, and all who meet her love her. My music tastes run from jazz, the old standards, to the classics. I've been singing jazz all my life and a couple of years ago decided to study the craft and learn proper singing technique to preserve my voice till death do us part. I love a good discussion on many subjects: (currents events, what's been happening in our lives, sharing something we have recently read, thought provoking or funny movies, musicals and documentaries. Having said all that, I think the most important things in a relationship are the values we share, our ability to communicate with each other and our willingness to compromise if or when we don't agree and a respect for our needs for privacy. I am not a religious person but live my life with honesty, integrity and love. And after all is said and done, I'd love to meet someone who is kind, romantic, has some smarts, and is healthy with a healthy sense of humor and who lives within 50 miles of Portland. What's inside is more important to me than appearances although I must admit to finding excessive weight a turn-off.I think I'll end on that note and hope what I've written appeals to you.I prefer a first date to be very casual, meeting in a quiet, public place for coffee or perhaps to share a light meal. We'll get to know a bit about each other and share a few laughs. If all goes well we'll make plans to meet again. :-}
