About Me

Hi there,I'm looking for someone who, like me, is vegan.I come from a big Italian / Norwegian family and I love sitting over a meal listening to someone else's story and sharing mine. Talking and eating, what could be better? I have a tendency to rescue animals so if a temporary box of extra kittens isn't your idea of a fun afternoon.......My political leanings are very important to me and revolve around animal rights, helping people help themselves, and the environment in that order. I've been studying natural and holistic health and healing since I was 19. (but try and come between me and my Mighty-O doughnut and I can't be responsible for your safety.) I'm not too Woo Woo about it. Maybe just woo. In other words, I don't think that passing your hands over a broken arm is going to fix it.I am looking for someone who shares my attitude toward animals.I like adventure in unexpected places; in fact, I tend to think everything is an adventure. I guess as far as what "type" I am, I lean toward an artsy thinker whatever that is. As far as what type I like, physically, there really isn't one. I like smart, communicative, positive, and funny. Whatever type that that comes in works for me. I love to laugh; I have found that a sense of humor can help you get to the other side of anything. The most important traits to me are ethics, honesty, communication, dependability and ethics. Did I say that twice? : ) I have been lucky enough to have traveled some-Israel,Turkey,Jordan,parts of Europe, parts of the US and have lived in Hawaii. Then there was that trip to Baja in my 20's... But never mind :)I find each new place with its lifestyles and people widen my perspective.I like to spend time with people that make me laugh, that I can make laugh and who make me think. I love different perspectives. I'm a writer. I can say that because I've been published. OK that isn't as big a deal as it sounds but it's fun to say. The goal is to finish my book series, sell it, become rich and famous and, sadly, have to turn down all of those talk show invitations (Oprah will beg and weep) because I'm too busy volunteering for good causes.Until then I have a personal organizing business that I find very rewarding. Most of my clients are people with issues with trauma, mental health based chronic clutter, or hoarding (but I call it "excessive collecting"). It is very rewarding to have someone say "I couldn't have done this without you" or call and say "I had my first dinner party in 12 years!" I love old movies, street fairs, popcorn and animals. I love art, and the symphony or opera are a special treat but don't let that scare you. I rarely date men that like the symphony or opera, I have friends for that. I could win a million dollars and still want to go garage sale-ing (not that I couldn't figure out how to spend a million dollars). I enjoy involving myself in the interests that the other person brings to the relationship. (barring bungee jumping and skydiving -- those I can watch and wave) I want someone who is clever, fun-loving and willing to look at life from many perspectives and with endless possibilities. I'm looking for someone who, when he meets the right person, wants to build a life together.Meet for tea/coffee or a drink somewhere where we can talk.

I am your typical nice girl with an atypical sense of humor. I tend to be a little reserved and quiet around people I don't know until I get more comfortable around them, after which I warm up and become MUCH more talkative. I am a bit of a smartass with a rather sarcastic sense of humor, but I make people laugh, without hurting their feelings. Yay me! :)I love spending time with my family. I learned my love of hockey and baseball from my dad. We're all big fans of the Chicago Wolves and Kane County Cougars. On the weekends, I meet up with my friends in Chicago and check out all the awesome ethnic restaurants up there. I love trying new foods and new activities. I'm really easy-going, and I'm willing to try pretty much anything. When I spend time with my friends, we mainly just hang out and talk or watch movies, but we do sometimes hit up the bars and go dancing. I've recently started taking salsa dancing lessons and zumba lessons with some of my friends, which has been a ton of fun and totally counts as exercise, as far as I am concerned :) If you ever want to learn salsa, I'd be happy to take you with! We recently started up karaoke nights again on Wednesday nights, so I am getting back into practice with that. I also used to volunteer with the Humane Society back in college, but there isn't a branch near me now, so I'm looking for new volunteer opportunities. Any ideas?I am hyper, liberal, and random***Please note that I do not have a height requirement. I am really tall. You, however, do not have to be.***I would love to do some kind of activity that would allow us to talk, but give us something to do with ourselves to help bridge any awkward moments. Something like going to a hockey or baseball game ;) Or, going for a walk anywhere. Even doing something like roller-skating, which I haven't done in forever.
