About Me

I'm a fit and healthy, outdoors loving, fun loving, life loving guy. I'm very young at heart and would definitely say I'm hedonistic about life. No point in living if it isn't fun.I love getting out and doing stuff. Kayaking, scuba diving, cycling, camping, walking - I also love photography. Landscapes and people mainly, although got started with underwater photography this year. I love travelling. If I could retire tomorrow I'd never get bored. My bucket list is a long one, but I'm working my way through it.I'm a spur of the moment sort of person, and love just taking off for the weekend without planning it.So, I'm looking for someone who fancies going on some adventures, but is also happy to cuddle up on the sofa and watch a movie, or go to the pub to hang out and put the world to rights. If you can put up with a few pranks along the way and even maybe get me back, then I will love you even more for it. So that's a little about me, please drop me a message if I sound like your cup of tea. Dinner somewhere nice to find out if we click. After that rob a bank and go on the run together. Or maybe a normal second date if you insist.

Sadly, the marriage fairy tale didn't end happily ever after for me. It's time to get back out there and make some new friends - who knows where it might lead?I'm going to try and make this profile a bit different from some of the others I've read. Ok, so like everyone else, I could say that I enjoy nights at the pub as much as cosy evenings in with a DVD. I could say that I like music, or to socialise with my friends. But not only are they rather generic statements, I reckon all those things are a given - I mean, who doesn't?I'm also not going to pretend I like things that I don't, or pretend I don't like things that I do, just to try and make myself look more interesting - what's the point? If we meet up and "click" you're soon going to find out anyway. Nor will I use the phrase "guilty pleasure" - there's no such thing! So - firstly, I have a huge passion for music. I've played piano since the age of 5, and picked up the drums and a bit of bass guitar along the way. I play in a couple of bands (one of my profile pictures shows me me hard at work) which is an extremely rewarding hobby. My favourite music to listen to is what you'd call "classic rock", or "AOR", but I have an appreciation for most musical styles (with the possible exception of country and western).- absolutely fantastic bluesy rock. Also something of a soft spot for the oft-mocked Chas & Dave, who are criminally under-rated as musicians. Someone once told me that they don't own any music with less credibility than mine - how is credibility relevant? I like what I like, regardless of its so-called credibility - and I certainly don't choose to listen to something just because it's "credible"!I do enjoy a Friday night at my local, I love catching live music too, whether it's a festival, arena show or intimate gig - and when the pub and live music come together, well that's pretty much perfect. When it comes to TV and films, I love a good sitcom -..). Also enjoy sci fi - I think the Star Trek reboot movies are great, and the remade Battlestar Galactica was some of the best TV I've seen.;geek" to "nerd" - see pictures) is spot on if you ask me.I'm not what you'd call an exercise fiend by any stretch of the imagination - but with my 40th fast approaching (or given that it's only a week away, possibly just gone by the time you read this), I've recently taken up running with a view to hitting 10km by Christmas ***step at a time, and it's certainly cheaper than paying for a gym membership and then never going!- especially if there's a nice country pub at the end...I like to think of myself as a loyal, understanding, compassionate person with a live-and-let-live attitude - I can't stand rudeness, bad manners or selfishness. I describe myself as liberal (with a small 'L'***and make it a habit never to argue about politics if I can help it (I won't change your mind, you won't change mine - so best to keep it to myself!) When you get to a certain age, you appreciate that many of the single people out there will have children - everyone has a history, after all. I have one daughter (although I don't see her often) so absolutely accept that children will always come ahead of any relationship.Likes - Family Guy, salmon, real ale, well cooked steak &- Soap operas (TV to make you miserable), Marmite, bad manners, selfishness, nightclubs, profile pictures of people sticking their tongue out (why do people do that?!), text speak, BournvilleSo, I think that's about it. Having read back through, it's longer than I expected it to be, and there are one or two rants that I didn't intend - but it was a bit of a stream of consciousness and hopefully just demonstrates a passion for the things I care about. If you like what you see, or if you're curious and want to know more, drop me a line, say hi - be nice to chat. At the very least, it's always good to make new friends, and who knows what could happen? This is always a difficult one. The obvious thing to say would be to meet for a coffee, or in a pub for a drink. Maybe a walk in the country, see if the fresh air inspires us! Dinner is better for a second (or subsequent) date, as it's very difficult to leave if we decide we're not suited!Anything's possible though ***date I had a while ago involved helping someone put a sofa together, so I'll try anything (well, most things) once... Best to avoid the cinema, or a gig though - it's impossible to get to know someone in a dark, noisy room with hundreds of other people.
