A romantic at heart and a scientist by training, I'm considerate, flexible and pragmatic. As far as relationships are concerned, I was in a very long-term relationship (to all intents and purposes, we were like a married couple). It would be great if I could meet someone whose personality is compatible with mine, who is optimistic and enjoys life. The person I am looking for should be flexible and not too rigid in their thinking (but please note that I am myself also very flexible and willing to make compromises). Chemistry is an absolutely crucial factor, and it could convince me to waive some (or many!) of my other criteria. Imagination and creativity would be a great plus in your favor, and it would be particularly nice if you are fond of literature. I would like to have a casual conversation on the first date - it would be nice if we could meet for a meal.

I am 48, smart, educated (the previous two are not necessarily the same thing in my experience ;-) curious, healthy and into travel, walking, good conversation, cooking and baking, good movies, and my family.; like art and design and good cinematography. I have been around the world a few times and I know who and what I am... I would like to meet someone who is similar in that regard.I am a very positive, upbeat, and optimistic person and have a difficult time with people who are perennially cranky or whiny. Life's too short!. I read a lot; I enjoy interesting ideas and and interesting, articulate people. I am not attracted to barflies, selfish, lazy, mean, or clingy people. A walk where we have an opportunity to talk and get to know one another, or dinner in a quiet place with a bit of privacy.
