My parents made time for me which included things like games after dinner, and a vacation alone with my mom. I believe that when you are that close to somebody you give a vulnerable piece of yourself away. If there is no commitment, then that piece is lost and crippling pain seeps into your life. This affects all relationships, and the ability to live life with maximum joy.
