There's no place like home!!Here's a bit about me...I am kind, caring, compassionate and also independent, passionate and career-minded. I love to hike, bike, travel and explore. I have travelled extensively through Europe, Australia and New Zealand and have ventured into Africa and South America. I like to build adventure into my vacations...I also enjoy gourmet dinners (especially when trying out new recipes with someone special), BBQ's with friends and trying out good wines. I like to learn about the wines and their regions... While I enjoy the theatre, or a concert in the park, it does not have to be a regular activity.I cherish "chill" time to just relax, reflect and maybe do some writing. Long walks with my dog are a must. There is nothing better than seeing the complete joy of my dog when she is able run and bound leash free on the hiking trails or chase a boucing kong!Family is important to me and I see friends as the next best thing! I am glad that I now am closer to my mum...she is 87 and so each visit is so precious and important. I was very lucky to meet some great people and form new friendships when away. And, also to keep the strong group of friends here in the area.So, what about you? I like a guy who is down to earth, genuine, fun, thoughtful and loving. You will want to spend time with me but also be willing to do things with friends and family.     I like to think I'm a good listener or at least I try very hard to be. I like to read body language. I also try very hard not to judge because it will only come back to me in form of bad karma or close me off to the possibility of knowing someone deeply. I like to sew and design things (wall hangings, quilts, tools, clothes) and build or repair things. I don't like hanging out in the sun. I love the ocean and camping. I don't cook but am a fan of those who do. I like working out at the gym. I used to be a Civil War reenactor, thinking about maybe getting involved with it again. I like wearing frilly clothes. I've been told by others that I'm weird (don't know what that means) but it's always (I mean always) said with a smile and great fondness. I like watching baseball/football but only with others. I'm pretty comfortable in my own skin. I can stay calm under pressure (at least look like it on the outside).I would like to hear about you.Update: The nose comment on my photo was meant to show off my nose in a very proud way.......I'm so surprised at how many of you guys think I don't like my nose (eye-ka-rumba). But just the same, thank you all for feeling the need to reassure me that my nose is ok......very thoughtful. I like men who are assertive and comfortable in their own skin. It's hard to write what I think is an ideal first date because I like things to be spontaneous....what can be written about that.....takes the surprise out don't you think? I would rather go for something simple to decide if we click....then let loose whatever makes life flow.
