About Me

So, this is where I get to tell you all about me...fantastic (insert eye rolling and sarcastic tone). First of all, I hate these things and trying to pitch myself. I could sit here and tell you all about how fabulous I am, but I don't think it really gives you an accurate picture of who I am.I have a very dry sense of humor and love sarcasm. Nerdy science jokes crack me up and I love to laugh. If you don't have a good sense of humor or can't appreciate it, then move along. I tend to think of myself as quirky, probably a result of my science background. I love reading and will often curl up with a great book and read it cover to cover before I do anything else, especially if the weather is yucky. I read a lot of fiction. Most of it is science fictionish, but I am sure a true sci-fi reader would disagree with that statement. I also read a lot of youth/young adult literature. I like to know what my students are reading and they are quick reads. I usually have a couple books going at a time. When it's nice outside I like to go camping and fishing, but never seem to do either one of them enough. I also love to drive and road trips are always welcome as long as the weather is good. I like to travel and have been to a few different countries, and am always adding to my list of states visited.I'm also working at improving my cooking skills. I love baking and would love to someday open my own place and sell things from my family recipes. I like to cook, but I don't know that I would call myself a good cook. I don't like making lots of food for one, so I usually make what is easy and quick that I can stand to eat multiple days in a row.I used to be a high school science teacher, now I work in education, but outside of the classroom. The decrease in stress has been tremendous!I love music! I love live music even more! I hate to list what I listen to, because it all depends on my mood. I could listen to just about everything, but screamy metal music is my least favorite. I just don't get into it. when I'm on the computer. In the car it's mostly on Kiss***or KGGO. The most recent concert I went to was Blink 182. Fave music moment;I am shy, no denying that, but I am worth getting to know. I want someone who will accept me for who I am and wants a low-key life. I look at a lot of profiles but seldom send messages (shy). If you noticed that I looked at your profile but didn't leave a message, it's probably because I couldn't think of something to say that would spark interest, but it doesn't mean I didn't like what I saw.So, message me if you made it all the way through this and you think it's worth getting to know more about me, but please message me something more than Hi...it doesn't usually lend itself as a great conversation opener...I've given you plenty of things to ask me about...give it a try!

I'm even-keeled, dependable, reliable, do what I say I'm going to do, and try very hard not to waste anyone else's time. Flakiness is one of my biggest pet peeves. I'm looking for someone similarly grounded and down-to-earth.* Manners are important. I don't think people should leave behind their trash in public places for others to clean up--like at a sporting event, a movie theater, wherever. And I appreciate traditional chivalrous acts--even small stuff that a lot of people wouldn't notice, like waiting for the girl to drive away first. (And I know this shouldn't be a big deal...but what is with people not knowing how to properly hold silverware? LOL)* I like guys who are energetic and who are willing to try new things. But...sometimes I just wanna sit on my amply-sized butt and have a Netflix night. So yeah...I like a go-getter, but I also like someone who can let the wheels stop turning and actually enjoy downtime and relaxation.* I like guys who, if not on the same page, are at least in the same book as me politically-speaking. I consider myself a mix of conservative and libertarian with some conspiratorial underpinnings. :-D* Above all else, I like guys who still know what it means to be a *man.* Someone who has values and a sense of justice. And someone who is kind...to me, to children, to animals, etc. I'm usually easy-going, so I'll leave this to him to decide.
