I'm a VA girl who relocated to the DC area for the first time about 1.5 years ago -- I think that still qualifies me as a newcomer -- At 35, I have a successful career, a wonderful family and a close circle of girlfriends. I’m looking for a man who shares some of my interests, but can also bring something totally new to my life. Someone to complement me, rather than complete me.I’m pretty outspoken, I love to talk and listen and I’ll tell you what I really think. Witty banter is of the utmost importance in a relationship, as is honesty, kindness, friendship, compromise, shared sense of humor (I’m funny, but I can’t tell a joke to save my life) and the occasional spirited debate. I love kids and would have no problem dating a single parent. I'm outgoing and social, but I need time alone to recharge. I'm independent, and am perfectly comfortable going out to dinner or a movie by myself. My job is very important to me but sometimes I struggle with finding a balance between work and play. I'm not perfect, and I don't expect you to be either...just be sincere and real. More about me...I was raised as a military brat and grew up all over the world, having called Central America, Korea and Germany home. I love the sense of adventure that travel brings and I’m always willing to try new things.I can be kind of a dork at times...I love Jeopardy, Trivial Pursuit and other board games, and visiting museums and historical sites (think I could find a couple around here?) Having lived through the Saints' Superbowl season in NOLA, I have become a football fan although I must admit, I'm still trying to figure out the game! We meet for brunch (great excuse to have a drink before noon) and then spend some time exploring one of DC's museums, historical sites or parks. Or maybe we just go to IKEA -- seriously, if you can assemble some particle board Swedish furniture using only pictures without killing each other, it's a good sign.

Just to get this out of the way, we aren't going to have sex the first time we meet. I'm not coming back to your place, there will be no taking clothes off or anything along those lines. Do people not date anymore? Is getting to know someone first before sex becoming a taboo? I mean seriously people, what the heck happened to our society. If your looking for a one night stand or a booty call, that's not gonna happen here. Ok, i'm off my soap box. I have two precious little boys. They are two and four. They consume most of my time. I am a full time mommy ***. Other than my mommy duties I am also employed full time. I love to read. I am not into the club/bar/drunk fest anymore. It was fun in college, but I have grown up and moved on. Meeting people in a bar is not appealing to me. I am looking for someone who is family oriented. Someone who enjoys going out to eat, movies, reading, and just hanging out and laughing. I just wish I got to do it more often. Along with the fun grown-up activities, you also needs to be able to hang at the Zoo and Children's Museum. My children are my world and if you can't accept them, then move on. It takes me a little while to open up to someone. It's kinda awkward meeting strangers and having dinner. Small talk is not my strong suite, but neither is remembering an umbrella in the rain. We all have good and bad points. It's just sticking around for the good that's the hard part. Oh, the first awkward meeting. Something as painless as possible lol. I would say meeting for coffee or a simple lunch, nothing fancy. Somewhere that both parties feel comfortable. Definately not into riding around in the car. Can you say scary weird for a chick on a first date with a stranger. I see scary movies of killers flashing in my head. I only say that, because I see it in many first date descriptions. Somewhere public :o)~
