After that many years of 14 hour days balanced with raising 3 kids, I figured I deserved 6 months off - haha! I never realized how many hours are truly in a day to explore and engage and discover until I had so many of them free to work with! I always win the "guess the age" game at the amusement parks - my kids love me for it -smiles (with a special shout-out to my genes!)I've traveled the world but will be the first to admit I got the luxuries of flying business class for free being married to a major airline pilot for 19 years. That, my dear friends, was the one perk that kept me hanging on for so long, when I probably should have bailed a decade ago! Nothing like a $6K business class round trip to Japan or Thailand for just $18 in taxes !!I believe in the power of laughter and hugs to make life less stressful. You may find me to be a bit of a chatterbox, but I can assure you I never just prattle on about nonsensical stuff....my brain is chock full of information and tidbits I have gleaned over the years from my appetite for knowledge. That sometimes comes in handy like back in ***when I was one of the very first contestants on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.I workout most days and enjoy not only the energy it gives me, but the positive outlook on life and keeping one step ahead of my chronological age in the health department! Someone to whom their health and physical fitness is important is a big plus with me.- but recognizing the value of getting your body moving and how that contributes to both physical and mental health is important.One of the things I have found most elusive after my last 21 years with a person who couldn't be genuine and vulnerable with me, is, true love. I know that sounds like I am looking for a fairy tale, and that's not it at all. But I have witnessed friends of mine in couples, in both long-and short-term relationships, who display the beautiful give and take, and genuine MUTUAL love and affection, that eluded me all those years. Like Lou Gramm of Foreigner sings " I want to know what love is. I want you to show me..." Are those difficult shoes to fill? Not necessarily....you tell me... Nothing ventured ...nothing gained ... As traditional as a dinner and a movie, or as adventurous as bungee jumping or a day at Universal riding the Hulk Coaster 6 times!A walk on the beach barefoot sounds nice too ....it's as simple or as involved as two people agree it should be ...

My favorite areas to R&I'm pretty smart; I'm a bibliophile and I love crossword puzzles and Sudoku. The current reading list (I read 7 or 8 books at a time; and no I'm not ADHD) includes: Rasputin, The Mad Monk;; and A Journal of the Plague Years). I'm also a published author. One of my pics is the pic that is on the cover of my books. Some of you have asked what I write. Late 19th century American history; post-Civil War, railroad tycoons, lumber barons, and the gilded age from the area in which I grew up. It's a very niche market so I don't think any author on the NYT best seller list has anything to worry about. But it is nice to receive a royalties check from my publisher twice each year, even if said royalties only cover my expenses, but then again I do write off those expenses so I suppose I come out ahead. I think it's more important to be able to share the history and educate people, rather than worry about the money part of it.Hobbies include linguistics and foreign languages (Latin, Spanish, Italian, French, Russian, German, Dutch, Arabic), as well as etymology and onomastics. As for music tastes, I prefer anything Celtic or Scottish, but rock and roll old school works.; i.e., the Bunny Boiler). I have two sons, both of whom are no longer at home. So it's just Simba (an American red brindle pit I rescued from the local shelter) and me.I take an avid interest in politics (I'm a conservative) and often volunteer during campaign/election season. Anything else you want to know feel free to ask!I'd like to find a nice fellow to settle down with. But if you are insecure, have jealousy issues or need me to be your babysitter and hold your hand ***then don't bother. My entire career I've worked with men (pro baseball, military) and I do work with men now, 10:1. I don't need, nor do I want, any crap. I'm not a big texter, and if you call and I don't answer I'll get back to you; if I don't answer it means I'm busy. I have a life that I enjoy, I'd just like to share it with someone. But, again, I'm not going to be at your beck and call. Dinner and a movie sounds so cliche, and I don't want to be stuck with someone for hours on end if things don't click. I think meeting for a drink and darts would be a better first date option.

Hi and thanks for reading my profile, I'm 48 and yes all my pictures are recent. My kids are grown one in College the other a senior and a freshman. I'm a point in life where I'm ready to start a new chapter in my life. Here's a bit about me I love the great outdoors, especially anything that has to do with being near the ocean, I consider myself athletic, workout ***days a week and for fun I play on a kickball league. I like sports particularly, baseball and basketball and for downtime really enjoy going to the beach, dining out, concerts, travel, movies and dancing. My taste in music is very varied love anything from top 40, country, reggae, rock and roll and salsa but I most enjoy listening to live bands. I acclimate well to new situations, love spontaneous adventures and consider myself a classy lady who loves to dress up in her little black dress, but feels just as comfortable in my flip flops. I have a work hard, play hard attitude and whenever I do anything from work to relationships I give 110%. Friends and family are very important to me I feel I have been blessed with good friends as well as a strong and loving family unit, I love all animals and have two dogs. I'm a genuinely good person, have an easy going attitude, I’m outgoing I tend to make friends easily and keep them. I live my life with the intent of truly enjoying the moments that I have been given. I am hopeful to finding my soul-mate and enjoy the rest of the journey. Whether watching a favorite TV show, relaxing at the beach or going on that well deserved vacation I believe life is best shared with that special someone by your side.
