My favorite areas to R&I'm pretty smart; I'm a bibliophile and I love crossword puzzles and Sudoku. The current reading list (I read 7 or 8 books at a time; and no I'm not ADHD) includes: Rasputin, The Mad Monk;; and A Journal of the Plague Years). I'm also a published author. One of my pics is the pic that is on the cover of my books. Some of you have asked what I write. Late 19th century American history; post-Civil War, railroad tycoons, lumber barons, and the gilded age from the area in which I grew up. It's a very niche market so I don't think any author on the NYT best seller list has anything to worry about. But it is nice to receive a royalties check from my publisher twice each year, even if said royalties only cover my expenses, but then again I do write off those expenses so I suppose I come out ahead. I think it's more important to be able to share the history and educate people, rather than worry about the money part of it.Hobbies include linguistics and foreign languages (Latin, Spanish, Italian, French, Russian, German, Dutch, Arabic), as well as etymology and onomastics. As for music tastes, I prefer anything Celtic or Scottish, but rock and roll old school works.; i.e., the Bunny Boiler). I have two sons, both of whom are no longer at home. So it's just Simba (an American red brindle pit I rescued from the local shelter) and me.I take an avid interest in politics (I'm a conservative) and often volunteer during campaign/election season. Anything else you want to know feel free to ask!I'd like to find a nice fellow to settle down with. But if you are insecure, have jealousy issues or need me to be your babysitter and hold your hand ***then don't bother. My entire career I've worked with men (pro baseball, military) and I do work with men now, 10:1. I don't need, nor do I want, any crap. I'm not a big texter, and if you call and I don't answer I'll get back to you; if I don't answer it means I'm busy. I have a life that I enjoy, I'd just like to share it with someone. But, again, I'm not going to be at your beck and call. Dinner and a movie sounds so cliche, and I don't want to be stuck with someone for hours on end if things don't click. I think meeting for a drink and darts would be a better first date option.

Hey! Love to find that laugh in everyday life. No matter how bad things are going. My bad day is someone's good day! I enjoy playing tennis, reading a good book especially on the beach. I enjoy scuba diving! I want to skydive soon! On my bucket list! I live in a condo in Jax Fla. too. Love to travel. The best education ever! I love music. Every kind. From Maroon 5 to Sinatra to Billy Joel. Also B52's. Such fun! I have a dog I inherited. She is a maltipoo. And is no trouble. I have one son who is an attorney in the state of S.C. then I have a 17 yr old daughter who plays fast pitched ball for a traveling team and I try to be at as many games as possible. Her school is in Ga. Then I have a 15 yr old daughter that loves the social life. I'm low maintenance and avoid confrontation. I have spent the last many years taking care of others. I did it with 100% commitment. Been on my own for awhile and have taken time to make changes in my life. Now its my time to live my life for me and that one special person. I love with my whole heart. And when I do I commit fully! No games. First date: I would love to really get to know someone over dinner drinks or something similar stress free. Open up.

You know the smart, kind of shy girl staring out the classroom window in high school, the one no-one noticed until she got the lead in the school musical? That was me then, and in many ways, it's still me now. For years, I've been learning how to shine onstage, and then retreating to the comfort of some hot chocolate, a good book, and maybe a snuggle.I have three boys in their teens; they are a big part of my life, and we still enjoy activities together, such as laughing together at YouTube videos, Scouting, making music (or just listening to it), or spending time poking tide pools at the beach. Love me, love my kids (or at least be willing to get used to them!) Professionally, I'm half-way through a master's degree at Royal Roads, looking for some work that will put the future MA to good use, and exploring ways to make the world a better place. I don't expect you to share exactly what I believe spiritually, but it would be great to know that you consider meditation and having a faith community a good trait. I'm not evangelical - my leanings are liberal/progressive/universalist. My faith gives me the energy and idealism to believe that the world can be saved.- sometimes running the same routes if I am into running (the urge comes and goes, lol). I want to do more lightweight camping and getting into the mountains. I'm car-less, and walk or ride my commuter-type bike most places.I also really enjoy the following "in-town" activities - And you? I often fall for the smart, shy guys, but you don't have to be a PhD. You've got an idea of what you are really good at, and it shows in the pride you take in your work -- or hobby . And you're generous in spirit - you're the guy who shovels the driveway of the old people next door. You love to be with your kids, if you have them. You are organized, but not anal about it :-). Bonus points if you can play an *** everything works out, you'll find I'm very affectionate/sensual, communicative, and into spending time together being romantic. We both know that the first date isn't a date. It's to make sure that neither of us is advertising falsely, or harbouring psycho beliefs ;-). The first "real"-- or maybe a movie, with Siskel and Ebert-like discussion afterward over a beer or a single malt. Or renting kayaks and paddling around the Gorge.
