I am very passionate about the neotropics and I would like to design a graduate study looking at plant- At this time, graduate school is a priority in my life and it's important to me (if I become involved in a relationship), that my partner is incredibly supportive of my desire to do international research. I use to be a tree planter. I can be sensitive and emotional sometimes (I think this comes along with being a very passionate individual). I cried when the "tree of life" was destroyed in Avatar. I like too many things for my own good: Reading (currently reading "The Motorcycle Diaries" and "A Brief History of Nearly Everything"), writing, learning Spanish, ethic foods, eating healthy, cross country skiing, swimming, running, horses (I use to be a competitive rider, but now I simply ride for fun), backpacking (I've done a number of amazing trips), kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, going out for beers, museums, breakfast, wool socks, biology ID books, playing the guitar, piano and ukulele, primates, sleeping, building things, travel...etc.I've traveled to and/or lived in several countries and look forward to much more traveling in my life. I really love Latin culture and would love to bike around south America with the right partner one day. I don't wear makeup, and very rarely dress up... but if the occasion calls, I'll put on a stunning dress and drop some jaws. You:Are probably a well educated (perhaps even geeky - like myself), modest, passionate, somewhat athletic (because of all the cool activities you do), adventurous, down to earth, level-headed guy who's been moderately successful in life. You truly believe that people can be perfect together, and the idea of dating an ambitious, outspoken, quirky girl makes you smile. I prefer to do some type of activity on a first date... I've been living and working downtown for about 7 years now and absolutely love it! I really enjoy my job and feel lucky to have found something that I like to do every day. I spend a lot of my free time hanging out with friends... normally we hit up a pub for a few beers on the weekend or relax at the beach. I take up any opportunity I can to go away (not because I don't enjoy the city but because I love vacations). Whether it be a weekend on the island or in the okanagan or somewhere else - I find it next to impossible to say no to a trip. The last couple of years I've been lucky enough to go on ***month backpacking trips in Europe & Australia. SE Asia is next on the list for this winter and I can't wait. I love to find different ways of being creative myself, whether it be making jewelry, decorating, gardening or sometimes even a bit of painting/collage.Other than that I like music, sports, the outdoors, concerts, cooking and the list goes on and on. My friends would describe me as caring, driven, independent, sarcastic, supportive and stubborn (but clearly I don't think I'm stubborn - ha!).
