I love to travel and hope to see all the continents before I die (Antarctica is probably a long shot, I know). After graduating from SFU I moved to Taiwan for a year and then backpacked around Southeast Asia for a few months.’ve been lucky enough to get away every couple of years to explore more of the world.I love to read all kinds of stuff, from graphic novels to classics to nonfiction. Music is really important to me, and I almost always have something playing in the background, no matter what I'm doing. I love discovering new music and I'll give bands from any genre a chance, even country and rap. If a song has a good beat and is fun to dance to, chances are I'll like it (unless it's Maroon 5 or Nickelback...terrible). I also enjoy lots of different movies, but lately I've gravitated towards sci-fi and fantasy types of films, as well as horror. I definitely have a nerdy side; my favourite show is Jeopardy and I kick ass at Jenga.-3 times a week. I wouldn't say I'm overly athletic, but I'm aiming to do Tough Mudder and the West Coast Trail next year... I'm not much into clubbing anymore, and would rather get together with my friends at a bar to catch the Canucks game or have a board game night. I love going to see movies and plays, checking out new restaurants, and trying different drinks/food. I'm also a huge animal lover; one of my favourite ways to unwind is to play with my dog and take her for walks.I'd like to meet someone who loves laughing and having fun and who has similar interests (obviously...wouldn't we all?). I can be a bit shy at first, so it would be good to meet someone who's outgoing and can pull me out of my shell. My lifestyle is pretty low-maintenance and drama-free, and I'd like to keep it that way. Ok, so here goes with some of the basics..... :) During my free time I like to hang out with my friends, watch movies etc and also enjoy outdoor activities. I like hiking, camping, road trips and the beach! I have a truck too ;) (don't be scared) so I do enjoy going down to the river, or a little off-roading here and there! I like that I can play both ends of the spectrum - mani/pedi and spa days with the girls but I'm not afraid to break a nail! I am passionate about animals - I work with exotic and domestic species. I plan to work with animals to further my career, depending where my path leads me! Sometimes my work schedule is a bit strange due to that - in the animal world we can't always take weekends and holidays off :/ If you were to get a hold of my ipod it's going to be a bit of a crazy mix! I like country, top40, classic rock - all kinds! I am easy-going and open, warm and respectful. I really dig respect! I could tell you a whole lot more but might be more fun in person - saves us from the long pause over coffee or drinks ;)

I currently work in industry, but I prefer research and academia. I am very passionate about the neotropics and I would like to design a graduate study looking at plant- At this time, graduate school is a priority in my life and it's important to me (if I become involved in a relationship), that my partner is incredibly supportive of my desire to do international research. I use to be a tree planter. I can be sensitive and emotional sometimes (I think this comes along with being a very passionate individual). I cried when the "tree of life" was destroyed in Avatar. I like too many things for my own good: Reading (currently reading "The Motorcycle Diaries" and "A Brief History of Nearly Everything"), writing, learning Spanish, ethic foods, eating healthy, cross country skiing, swimming, running, horses (I use to be a competitive rider, but now I simply ride for fun), backpacking (I've done a number of amazing trips), kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, going out for beers, museums, breakfast, wool socks, biology ID books, playing the guitar, piano and ukulele, primates, sleeping, building things, travel...etc.I've traveled to and/or lived in several countries and look forward to much more traveling in my life. I really love Latin culture and would love to bike around south America with the right partner one day. I don't wear makeup, and very rarely dress up... but if the occasion calls, I'll put on a stunning dress and drop some jaws. You:Are probably a well educated (perhaps even geeky - like myself), modest, passionate, somewhat athletic (because of all the cool activities you do), adventurous, down to earth, level-headed guy who's been moderately successful in life. You truly believe that people can be perfect together, and the idea of dating an ambitious, outspoken, quirky girl makes you smile. I prefer to do some type of activity on a first date... Going for a walk, bowling, biking, skiing...etc. Of course, starting with something basic (like coffee) and spontaneously deciding to do something else would be fun too.
