Hi. I'm a small town girl who's moved back to the country from the big city. However, I still like many 'big city' pursuits, and yes, I do miss the subway but definitely not the noise or the traffic. There's a comfort in the space and the freshness of the air up here that I didn't realize I missed until I was back. However, I am as comfortable with the city as with the country. I'm very versatile. I like heels or cowboy boots as much as birks and I like to dress it up as much as dress it down. I enjoy live theatre, the arts, photography, and all sorts of music - from country to blues to *** ACDC to classical. I prefer to cook or be cooked for, than go out to eat.I'm into nature, in small but significant ways (to me***like working all summer to build a butterfly and bee haven in the backyard, composting, rescuing turtles and snakes off roadways, etc. I really do enjoy my job and my colleagues and I like to joke around and have fun. I used to teach and my academic interests include *** and teacher development, essay-text literacy, and accessibility in the post-secondary environment. Now I use all of that soft skills stuff to work one-on-one with the public. I have travelled extensively in Africa, UK, New Zealand, Australia, some of Europe, and am just starting to explore Central and South America. I don't have cable TV. If you like to sit around and be a couch potato, I'm definitely not your type. Relax yes, veg out, no.I seek an emotionally mature man with excellent communication skills. I value a guy who is someone who talks about stuff that bothers you when it bothers you with the person who bothers you and don't just bottle it up.     Hiya...I'm in the process of updating my profile on here as a lot has changed since I wrote this a few years back and I am not getting many responses from the type of men I'm interested in dating.To begin with, I have always been very athletic. I've played ice hockey for almost 30 years now, mostly on guys teams. I'm still currently playing and I love it. I started playing soccer 7 years ago, and have progressed to the point of being decent. I now play soccer ***times a week on men's, women's and co-ed teams and hockey once a week in a men's league. I also started running last year. I completed 12 races between 5K and 10K last year. My goal for this year is to run my first half- I had always hated running, so this has been a huge accomplishment for me.Despite my continuous participation in sports, I became heavier than I wanted to be and I have spent the past year getting into much better shape. I've lost 33 lbs in the last year thru sports, P90x and Insanity. It's been a great journey and I'm happy with my results even though I am still a few pounds away from my goal. I'm now within the appropriate BMI range for my height. The built descriptions on here are pretty generic, so if I had to describe myself, I would say I am short and curvy, with a mostly athletic build, but as is the case with most folks my age, I'm not as lean as I'd like to be. Because I have changed so much since I posted this, I am still in the process of updating my photos.I have 7 cats, you may as well know that up front. I'm not a collector, rather I worked for an animal rescue group as a foster and have adopted a few of the cats that weren't adoptable to other people. I love animals, but I don't intend to adopt any more at this point. If you have a problem with cats or that I have 7, probably best not to bother contacting me.I like to write sometimes. I used to write short stories and poetry, but haven't for a while. I love movies and music and collect both. I'd love to meet someone who likes theater, especially musicals.Now that my weight and health are under control, I'm now working on systematically organizing and changing my home. I've done some work in the past and I am looking forward to doing some additional repairs and updates. I have some great ideas once I get the time and money to start moving forward. I am not really sure what I am looking for, as I have been on my own for a while. I'm actually fine with being on my own, but like most folks, I'd like to find a guy who can share in all of the good things in life. I'm definitely open to friendship, and dating possibly. It's a must that you can accept the cats because I have made a commitment to care for them and it's not an option for me to give them up.
