Me:---I am kind, compassionate, principled, and self-reflective.---I like... book stores (any of those still around?), film, the 80s, plays, musicals, art galleries, museums, improv, comedy shows, nature, volunteering, traveling, social justice/AIDS activism.---I am an ethical vegan and an animal rights activist. Veganism is at the core of my deepest values, and it'd be super rad to date another vegan, but I'm open to dating non-vegans. ***As a corollary to the last point, it's important to me to date someone who likes animals. I love my dogs to pieces, so dating someone who doesn't like dogs would likely not work out.--I have my master's in English and teach 8th grade English. It took me way too many years to figure out that the epidemic of teenagers staring at their laps during class is not a medical ailment, but rather, they're texting.---I am responsible, stable, and honest, and I value those traits in others.--I feel most at peace when I'm in nature and/or with animals.--I find humor in a lot of things; I'm funny, quirky, sarcastic, and fun to be with.On a personal note: I was married prior to prop 8 passing and got divorced almost 3 years ago. Ultimately, I do want to find a life partner again, though I am fine with casual dating in the meantime. I'm independent, introspective, and introverted (and apparently really identify with words that contain the prefix "-in") and really value and need solitude and time alone; I hope my partner will appreciate this, as I would honor her private/alone time too.Despite my introverted nature, I have incredible, fun, funny friends who are important and valuable to me, and time with them really nourishes my soul. It's important to me that my partner also has her own friends and that we each maintain healthy social relationships outside of our relationship. I am not into neglecting my friends when I'm in a relationship, and I wouldn't expect my partner to neglect her friends either. And, getting to know each other's friends would be fun, too! I have two college degrees and still not convinced I know what I want to do. I love hiking and being around water. Swimming, long boarding, waterfalls, I love it all. I am an avid reader and writer. I do a lot of "behind the scenes" But kinda like being a homebody. I'm not one of those TV is a waste of time people. There is to much terrible TV to miss. I am honest and speak my mind no matter what. I can't do passive aggressive. My family and close friends are super important to me. I love to paint, even if it does still resemble my work in first grade. In my life I hope to be surrounded by positive energy, laughter, love and lots of four legged buddies. Laughter a must.
