It's less awkward and we can talk and see if a second date is reasonable. I am old-fashioned enough to be embarassed when the check comes. I think whoever suggested the date should probably pay but at my age I am less likely to be the first asker...I can talk...I am not too shy...I hate uncomfortable silences and can usually find something to discuss.
