About Me

I think I am ready to open my heart again. It's kind of scary to start over at 51, but I know that out there somewhere is a kind, warm, nature-loving man of integrity who is looking for someone like me. I'm in a transition phase in my life right now, trying to find the balance between putting my time, energy and passion into activities and people which will bring meaning to the 2nd half of my life vs. the practicalities of everyday existence. I really admire people who have chosen a simpler life built on what is important to them, rather than what society today dictates as being important.Part of my vision for the future includes a loving partner to share the journey. I like to spend most of my free time doing things outdoors like hiking, biking, gardening and paddling my kayak, but also enjoy live theatre and music.I tend to favor acoustic music, but like just about anything but rap/hip-hop type stuff and really twangy country. I find cello music really expresses all the feelings of the human heart so I adore cello music. I especially love live music in outdoor venues.I love to eat anything fresh from an organic garden, ethnic food and locally grown and raised stuff. I was raised Catholic but am finding my spiritual needs and growth extending beyond the *** these days.I'm not perfect...I have faults, weaknesses and character and bodily flaws. I'd rather share them with you, for true intimacy comes from feeling safe enough to be vulnerable with another. I'd like you to feel safe enough to share your imperfections as well. I have been deeply hurt by someone's issues with alcohol and I just don't have it in me to ride that roller-coaster again.In general,"Hey", " Hi there", or "what's up?" are really not likely to get my attention, so please...if you would really like a reply, make the effort to say something of substance. Good communication is the foundation of every successful relationship, and by not making the effort on the first try, leads me to believe that you are not at all interested in this integral piece of the puzzle. Just sayin' I enjoy a nice walk and talk for a first date. I think being able to go for a walk with someone because it is a little more casual and sometimes the things you see along the way can fill in those awkward silences that can sometimes happen on a first date. I think you can usually tell after an initial meeting if the person is someone you would like to get to know (or not).
