Asking the Soviets for a permission to go to America was considered treason and my family was at risk of going to jail in Siberia. After winning a 9 month fight to be allowed to emigrate, we moved to NY City. No one in my family spoke a word of English and we had absolutely no money or relatives to help us. From then on, I grew up in the Big Apple where, as a full scholarship student, I attended the world's greatest Juilliard School. Concert Tours. and, just personal travel, pretty much took me to every continent and every city and village worth visiting. For me, America was, indeed, a land of great promise and opportunity. I don't mean to sound contemptuous or snooty, but I am proud to be a self made man and to have taken advantage of the opportunities USA gave me. Few countries in the world could give such opportunities, esp. to its immigrants. God Bless America!During weekends, I work out as regularly as possible and like to read good books. I enjoy movies, live concerts, sporting events, as well as opera and the Alley theater.
