About Me

It is carefully put together, but there seems to be something missing. The picture is a man blessed, fulfilled, yet with a haunting feeling that there is meant to be just one thing more. He is 50, 6'02", around 230#, blue eyes and light brown hair which though trimmed close, still keeps the top of his head warm. He stays active and exercises frequently to maintain his center. Friends call him “caring”; an ex-wife calles him “giving”; and one friend even calls him “goofy”; but since she is 10, that is the best compliment of all. He is well educated, and serves in a professional career that has thrilled him since childhood. He spent his 20's and early 30’s in military uniform, most of that time overseas in Europe. He has served country, seen much of the world and even helped shape some of its history. He has since traded his military uniform for a civilian one. He continues his work doing things that still thrill even after 20 years. He feels lucky to do what many dream about, and experience the worldwide challenges that come along with it. 17 years ago, he became someones “Daddy". The wonderful experience has put all others in perspective. All else he has done in his life paled in comparison. Watching his little one grow and learn has been the biggest thrill of his life. These days the boy is a man, and the job of raising him is mostly done. Dad made the most of their time because he knew in a blink he would find a grown man where his little one once stood. And that's exactly how it happened...So what could possibly be missing? Perhaps the feminine presence that will complement both their lives. The younger one is practically independent. Now its time for Dad to look toward the next chapter. It is about rounding edges and balancing lives. The woman who fits is REAL, authentic. Though she may have experienced a few trials in her life, she holds no permanent bruises from it. She has a heart of gold, a young spirit, and a mature character. She is a lover and a best friend. A brush from her hand or the whisper of her voice will raise goosebumps. They share chemistry that will help sustain them in the long-term. They can communicate to help it thrive, and know that together they can reach heights that neither can achieve alone.     Hello, I am a single dad raising a daughter by myself. I have been divorced for 5 years. I am 49yrs., 6'5", 240lbs.I basically put my social/private life on hold so that I could concentrate on raising my daughter and give her all my attention. Now that she has graduated high school and is moving into the next phase of her life she just isn't home as much anymore so I think it is about time that I do the same. I work at a major oil/chemical refinery in their engineering department as a pipe designer. I have been in the engineering design profession for 30 years now and I still love what I do very much. I try to stay as active as I can. I workout 4 times a week. I guess I am the outdoors type, I like to enter 5K's (probably 10 a year). I love to go kayaking on Armand Bayou wildlife preserve...kind of a good place to clear the mind after a hard work week then coming back and laying around the pool.As far as going out, I haven't been out much, I don't do the clubbing scene (did that in my 20's and that's not what I'm looking to do). Now with that said I do like to find a live band somewhere on the weekend and hangout with friends or find a place with some steaming hot crawfish and wash them down with a cold beer. Sitting on the boardwalk in Kemha doing some people watching and watching the boats troll in and out is pretty relaxing also. I guess I would say that I am a pretty spontaneous kind of guy, I like to have my bags packed on my last day of work just head out towards the hill country with no agenda at all. I just like to drive and stop and sample as many of the BBQ joints along the way and hit some the mom and pop antique shacks along the way. The only thing better would be having that special someone with me and the both of us enjoying each others company. Music.....well, I will have to say that I am a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll. Lol I love my old school country and I love my classic rock. I do like a little bit of everything and with a 18 year old daughter I am learning to like some new music. Now I guess this is where I'm suppose to tell what I'm looking for. I think most of us on here are looking for pretty much the same thing. Me....I will have to first say that I am a hopeless romantic and I believe that you should put your lady on a pedestal and pamper her....I still believe in chilvary...opening a door for you, pulling your chair out for you. I want to meet someone that doesn't mind me holding their hand in public or maybe even a kiss.....just because. I am looking for someone that I can build a long lasting relationship with. I want that kind of relationship that when I see her I will get those butterfly feelings in my stomach.....you know, where you hate to leave them in the morning and you can't wait to get home to her in the evenings. Someone to cuddle with on the couch during those stormy rainy days or to watch a movie with.Well, I don't want to make this a novel so I will save the rest for when we meet.
