Just here for the forums....found my mate right here on POF!! Can you believe that!! Had a great time here and went on many dates.....wasn't as hard as most say. Created a great profile and got a reasonable amount of *** women approach me *** the other way around and had much more success that way!!Now that I'm taken, I'll leave you ladies with a few tips on things to be mindful of when you write your profiles. Here are a few things that turned me on and turned me off when reading ladies profiles:1). Seeing a preferred age range that is much younger than you (i.e. woman is 42 and is looking for a man ***. This was a huge turnoff to me and simply told me she really wasn't seriously looking for an LTR with someone from her peer group. She wants a boy toy for a short fling to make her feel young. I skipped ALL of the ladies that had this kind of criteria........2). Saying your kids come first - a complete turnoff! As a single dad, I have committments and responsibilities to my son. HOWEVER, the lady in my life is as equally important as my son, as is her kids too, and I expect she treats me with the same respect. How can you possibly build an LTR with someone when there is NO expectation that you will be an equal part of her or his family at some point? No one in their right mind wants to come second, third, or fourth in a relationship........being a responsible parent is cool (we all have to do that, and with that does come commitment). However, stating outright that your kids always come first is a complete turnoff.......3). Do show your softer side. Too many women take their independence to an extreme and are quick to shout that they "don't need a man but want a man". Ladies, let me be the first to tell you that I NEED a woman. Not to clean my clothes or cook meals, but for companionship and love. I am incomplete without it. Its good to be independent, but if you have no need for a man then why are you bothering to date? Ladies that showed me they needed me for those things as much as I need them (some vulnerability there for sure) got the green light.4). Tattoos. Yea, if you felt a need to tarnish your body with some permanent bumper stickers and then show them off like they are some kind of trophy, thats an immediate "pass" from me..........its simply trashy, and I don't care what kind of "meaning" they have to you......skip.....next.........One other very important nugget you single moms should know about us middle aged men.-habitate with you for a time and things between us go sideways (even if you're already getting support from your ex)....due to this kind of law, its VERY hard for us to commit to a relationship that involves co-habitation while you have young kids......I made this clear to alot of ladies that I dated and some of them didn't like my stand, but I have to do this to protect the financial obligations that I have to my son - I can't afford to pay more Child Support than I already do. Its good to be aware of the legal ramifications that we males risk if we engage in a relationship with single moms, but I think this fact may also reveal why some of us men are so non-committal at this age.....something to think about, for sure..... My first dates were always a hit.....just something laid back like a walk in the park, glass of wine, etc.......did me well!!

    I am far from granola but love the mountains and ocean and would love to retire in BC. I have an awesome puppy, so you need to like dogs.
