"If your profile is really lame it won't matter how good your message is."As I sat down to write this new profile and spotted that little nugget of wisdom, another successful Daddy Weekend in the books, a week of promise and change ahead, I was struck. Lame profile? It won't matter? Matter to whom? What am I selling, and who is buying? I almost shelved it in favor of a beer with the boys, or Skyrim and laundry. But I'm nothing if not an optimist, so maybe the right person is out there, on this site or another one like it, ready to take another whirl. And sometimes the search is fun, too. So..."I'm not a smart man, but I know love what love is." And what it isn't. Appreciating (or at least accepting) one's idiosyncrasies as complementary to your own, is. Spending time with someone you have nothing in common with because you're afraid of being alone, not so much. Picking your battles = yes. Putting up with constant BS = no. Walking through a minefield every day? You get the idea.If you're reading this, you're probably a work in progress to one extent or another. I am too. I read, listen, push, run, and pedal, all to hopefully wake up tomorrow a little better than I am today. That said, today I'm, well, pretty decent. I'm kind, thoughtful, wicked funny, and not an idiot. I have a tendency to get out of traffic tickets because the officers appreciate my honesty. I'm not making that up. I'm not perfect, but I'm working at it, and if genes are any indication (height apparently skipped a generation), I've got time. I remember every phone number and address I've ever had, but I misplace my keys/wallet/phone/ID badge at least once a day. I have my own wavelength; it's adjustable up or down depending on the situation, but generally likes to stay where it is. I'm basically fearless, and while kids and the rising cost of health care may have dialed up my risk aversion a little, I'll still try just about anything.Are you active, well-intentioned, and not likely to be jealous of the time I spend with my kiddos? That's a start. The rest, including but not limited to, and in no particular order: articulate, easy smile, open minded, responsible, witty, reasonably honest, outdoorsy, not a raging psychopath.     Hmmmm, so where do I begin? I'm a laid back type of guy with a multifarious sense of humor; I range from dry and slightly sarcastic, to silly and juvenile.... ok, so I can lean toward the very sarcastic side of things. Much of my humor is situational based and spontaneous; I can find humor in most situations, but don't ask me to prepare a 30 minute stand-up routine. I enjoy being able to make others laugh, as I enjoy a good laugh myself.I'm also a DAD and while my daughter doesn't live with me fulltime, she is a large part of my life. There is nothing I wouldn't do for her and my time spent with her leaves me with some of the best memories. I follow the Pats and Sox more than I do the B's and C's, but I'm always up to go catch any of the home teams when they are playing.I also have many other interests such just about anything outdoors (hiking, camping, biking and fishing). Computer related activities (mostly, designing/building web sites, programming, setting up networks and fixing them). I also enjoy going for rides on my Harley. I enjoy eating and trying most types of ethnic foods and I also enjoy fine dining with candles and wine. There really isn't much that I dislike... I guess that is because I am an easygoing person. I am also passionate and enjoy spontaneity (it keeps life interesting). Something mutually agreeable to both of us....First dates, in my opinion, are the hardest. It is the first time you get to meet in person and talk and see how well you "click". Usually a good start is nothing too fancy, meet for a drink or a quick bite to eat and see how things go. Bowling, shooting pool, batting cages, the driving range (or mini golf) all valid options too... I'm flexible! Ultimately, it will depend on the what we are both in the mood for... ;-)
