After some time on and off of Match, I have learned more about who I am and what I am seeking. It turns out it is pretty simple. I still believe in the dream. The house, the kids, the friends and family. Maybe even a picket fence. It looks different now. Likely two families have merged, there are extra people involved who I never anticipated. But the dream remains. I am seeking my person: my best friend, partner, confidant, and lover. I want the mundane beauty that glows from an intact healthy family. At the end of our workdays, after little league, homework, music lessons, and cleaning the dishes from dinner – it’s just us and the world. And we have everything. Getting to this point is a long process and it will be a while before it all truly comes together, but I believe it is worth investing the time and emotional energy.
