About Me

I am a water lover, live on a boat in the summer and try to escape MI in the winter when I can... Hoping to do a lot more traveling soon...just got a shiny new passport in the mail. They say travel is the one thing you spend money on which actually makes you RICHER, and I firmly believe that.I am primarily a volleyballer but occasional golfer and skier, I like day hikes and camping [but not in big crowded campgrounds] and fishing, although I never seem to go lately. I plan to get back into windsurfing [it's more of a paddleboard for my kids right now], and am hoping to get more into wakeboarding. I don't watch sports, I play them. I'm a 3 time NCAA All American, National Champion and [former] National Record Holder...so I am now sick and tired of training or working out. My idea of exercise is a sport, not a gym :) And I can kick your ass at just about anything, including duck braiding a daughter's hair, but I'll laugh with you all the way.I graduated with a degree in design [Interdisciplinary Group Major In The Visual Communications], and have picked up a formidable intellectual tool belt over a 15 year career as a freelancer. One runs into a lot of things when freelancing. I've since moved on from that and am now working on long-term business plans and side projects of my own. I am a creative type and often put myself through misery trying to get a toy or birthday present just right for a 6 year old. I volunteer at school as a PE assistant, and my ideas for games win international awards...or at least some good times and a bunch of laughs from the kids.I have two daughters for whom I move mountains. But sometimes I put a few in the way to encourage their personal growth. If I'm with my kids it's all about them....but if I'm with you it's all about you.If you're still reading... I'm showered and dressed and ready to go for dinner with my [now ex] wife and two other couples. As usual I'm stuck in yet another unwelcome fight with her. I go out on the balcony to find some peace and have a smoke [I quit 3 years ago], only to find the slider door locked when I turn to go back in. No answer. I have a couple more smokes while I smile a bit weakly to myself and wait out this impromptu prison term. After an hour the door is still locked and the sun is down. Still no answer. It would hurt if I fell on it, but at least I wouldn't be swimming. Another 10 minutes pass while I think it over. Finally I swing a leg over the side and climb down the outside of the ship, down two balconies, hop onto the lifeboat, and then onto the deck. There's no one around, and no one saw me. I walk to the casino and play blackjack for a couple of hours, then walk back to the cabin and run into her and her siblings in the hall. She said nothing, but the look on her face was priceless, and curiously to this day she never asked me about it. I'll try to re-forget the ugly circumstances and remember just the James Bond part. How about a boat ride to somewhere where we can tie up the boat and throw some jokes around while we walk to dinner? If its cold, I'm sure two creative people can think of something....just make sure we have their numbers with us.
