About Me

I have four daughters: two are grown, one started LSU this fall, and the baby is a junior in high school. I enjoy participating in community organizations that are oriented toward improving and enriching my community.** I will be at work on September 16, so hopefully I will be settled in my house. *****I am looking for my happily-ever-after, but that could be simply me, kayaking and painting and writing***You should NOT message me if***you smoke heavily or do drugs- you obsess on your boat/Harley/truck/etc. because I have very diverse interests and enjoy a wide variety of entertainment- you are stuck in a rut, whether it's music, food, art (or lack thereof***again, I enjoy so many genres and cultures I am Catholic. I had checked Christian - He is so wonderfully accepting of others which fits my beliefs as well. I accept the beliefs of most other religions. I don't think I can put a box around the concept of God. Also - the 'drink socially' - a margarita w Mexican food, or something w appetizers. But I have a glass of red almost every night - that's seriously part of my health and fitness. On the relationship check box - I do want a long-term relationship, but Initially, I want to meet and see how things go, NO rush! If you read the 'long term' and 'I want a relationship', and are still here but a little concerned - it's alright. Casual activity friends are great as well. However, I hope to find my happily ever after soulmate. I love to travel, and keep a bag partially packed so that I can be out the door within thirty minutes for a fun weekend. I try to combine my favorites when traveling - I love historic sites, concerts, art, architecture and food. Souvenirs for me are small pebbles, sand or soil. (there is a connection!)I like to investigate the local cuisine, as well as any unusual places that hit my radar. Barbeque? Once home, I love to replicate the wonderful things that I experienced. Cooking is one of my joys, whether following recipes exactly to achieve a special meal, or just a from scratch, off the top of my hea d down home country dinner.Music is essential. Plainsong, baroque, classical, romantic, swing, big band, rock, alternative, some country, and marching band are just some of the genres I enjoy. I saw the "How the Edge Stole Christmas" concert with my younger daughters. The concert started at ***and lasted until ***with 6 bands performing, including Fun., Silversun Pickups, and The Joy Formidable. Now that I'm moving home, I am planning to resume my regular trips to Jazz Fest. The 'stately oaks and broad magnolias' of LSU are home to me. I have never seen the Tigers lose any game I've attended.When I said I like hiking, I really needed to have a way to make it say 'meandering and exploring'. If you are one of those hikers who sets goals and times for arrival, hmm....Biking is better. I tend to stay on the path. Canoeing is another thing altogether. I love it dearly, but most of my stops are unintentional.A good night with the family would include board games or a movie, with a big bowl of fresh kettle corn. Just the two of us? Maybe a nice bottle of old vine zin, brie with fig compote, and all the time in the world. I am very affectionate and romantic. I like hand-holding, cuddling, snuggling, hugging, kissing, etc. The etc. is important. For me, a healthy, happy relationship has a strong physical relationship. Kindness and compliments are also necessary. I enjoy sweet words, a loving touch, a note, a card, a leaf, a pebble... Just something that says I'm special to you.;What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" - that's what I want. If things go well, we'll visit for a while, and then maybe we'll wander out to explore the neighborhood. As we stroll, we will chat about the different things we see, learning more about each other as we go along. If we see a cool restaurant, or hear music that we like, we may decide to check it out.(Meeting for coffee also means that we can shake hands and leave easily)

    Kids are grown and gone, and am looking for someone to date. Maybe something more as time goes on, but I would like to meet someone and become good friends before considering anything long term. I love to take my camera for hikes, using my pictures as inspiration for my blog writing. One word to describe me is spontaneous. This past 4th of July weekend, I jumped in my car and just headed east till I hit the ocean, then turned left and continued on till I found lighthouses and cheap lobster! Every once in a while, last minute road trips are just the ticket!I am a teacher, a writer, a community theatre performer, a mom of grown children that I love to death, and a Nana. I get to the YMCA at least three times a week, and I have been training to do 5Ks. I ran my first just a couple of months ago for the first time in my life, and it felt amazing to just cross the starting line, let alone the finish line! I quit smoking in January and have never felt better in my life!..chased by zombies! :-) I actually wanted to BE one of the zombies, but maybe next time. It's not like I've never worn the Tom Savini make-up before...I had a bit part as a town-clerk-turned- The film, Ombis: Alien Invasion, was released in May.I like to cook, and I can usually be found at the Public Market on Saturday mornings. I love the fresh produce as well as the whole atmosphere... c'est la vie boheme! Along with quitting smoking, I am eating a much healthier diet which also includes juicing several times a week. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy a cheeseburger or pizza/wings from time to time! Everything in moderation...so I can enjoy. Yep! Aerial Silks at the age of 51! It requires a lot of strength, hence my joining the Y to work out. I injured my elbow a couple of months ago, so I am currently on injured reserves for silks. I am hoping that my tendonitis soon heals so that I can return to my training. I may not be especially graceful at it (yet), but I am off the couch and taking a chance.So...maybe you'd be willing to take a chance and share some time with me? Coffee is always a good first date so we can talk a bit to see if there is any chemistry. I appreciate someone who is completely honest, and if I am not your type, then just come right out and say so. Believe me, as a teacher, I have thick enough skin to handle it. Those places with comfy chairs near a crackling fireplace are especially nice.
