I'm a retired teacher. I had a second grade classroom for most of my career, but I also taught small groups from grades 1-8. Since retiring I have done volunteer work for the Humane Society (in the office) and the American Cancer Society (driving patients). I have also acquired some rental properties. Two of them were older homes which I renovated, doing as much work myself as I was able to. I really enjoy the creative process of envisioning a more practical, beautiful home, and then choosing the improvements, colors, and materials to make that a reality. My favorite renovation is now a vacation rental, and I loved being able to take the further step of decorating the home (on a budget!), refinishing furniture, sewing curtains and pillows, and creating artwork.I adore animals, especially my own dog and two cats, all of them rescues. I love going to movies, concerts, and live theater--all things that inspire us and connect us to the human race. I get a kick out of trying new foods and recipes and exploring new places. I enjoy reading and learning about many things, including nutrition and health. Finding a beautifully written book is a real thrill. I enjoy a wide variety of music, from classical to pop--pretty much anything but heavy metal or rap.--Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Mama Mia, etc. I love hiking, as long as I can take my time. Climbing to the top of Mount Aeneas this summer was such a treat. It offers ***degree views from what feels like the top of the world. I am positive, friendly, quiet, kind, dependable, playful, and down to earth. I love intelligent conversation and the sharing of thoughts and ideas. My viewpoint is usually liberal. I strongly believe in human rights, and in treating all others with respect and dignity regardless of race, religion, sexual preference, or personal choices. I was raised Lutheran, and later attended Methodist and non-denominational churches. Although I no longer attend church, I continually strive to grow in my spiritual life. I have a broader view of God now and the connectedness of all creation. I am influenced by the works of Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, and Dr. Seuss.I’m looking for a genuine, gentle man with inner strength, who is relaxed and easy going, intelligent, fun to be with, open minded,. and respectful of all others. I want to find someone who laughs easily, but never at the expense of others, who feels childlike enthusiasm over life’s little pleasures, and who accepts me as I am, yet inspires me to be more. Hi,First of all, Thanks for stopping by. Let's get this smoking thing out on the table. I quit backslid and at this point seem to be on the way to winning the battle to set them down for good. (a work in progress)There are tons of things I enjoy. I don't have to be the best at something to have fun doing it. I like to play......a lot. From volleyball to tic tac toe :). I also enjoy peace, quiet and a mindless evening of sitcoms or movies. I have a fairly quick, sometimes sarcastic, wit. I try to make the best of what ever task I have to do. I am so not afraid of acting silly and have been known to do so on several occasions. I like to think of myself as having a thick skin, but when it comes down to it I will cry at the drop of a hat. Oh well....I work at a local gym. I enjoy my gym job because of the relationships I get to build, a staff that is like a second family to me and the people I get to help. I have 3 grown kids. Different as night and day. Love the stuffins out of all 3.I like most kinds of music, I grew up with Pink Floyd etc..... so I'm pretty much all over the map, If you can throw a little hip into it I'm all about it. I do enjoy being outdoors when it's not ***and humid. Hiking, back of a bike, concert, community theatre, sports bar, I'll even go fishing every now and then, I stink at golf but enjoy playing (at it), darts, swimming, cold beer warm night, Baily's on a cold one. Travel seeing new things. Attending sporting events. For some reason I really like hockey, (go figure) I am at a point in my life where I am getting to be a little better at expressing myself........ ..; :(. I am about living my life to the fullest . If it won't get me killed or thrown in jail I'm all in! I have spent a lot of years tending to other peoples needs and am ready to tend to my ownThat being said things are always so much better if you have someone to share them with.....
