About Me

"Risk everything for love if you are truly human. Otherwise, leave this gathering." -RumiWriting about myself is difficult, but required, so here's my brief ramble. ~~I feel that the focused pursuit of end results alone leads to unhappiness. For me, happiness comes through the process of getting where I'm going. Sharing that experience with a partner, and taking part in their journey, makes the experience more meaningful. ~~I am a sane and loving person who connects well with others. I value friends and family and animals. I'm politically left of center and that is reflected in my work as a business owner, filmmaker, teacher, writer, and musician. I try to walk a fine line between being non-judgemental and making the decisions I must in order to get through each day. ~~I am an educated person with two masters degrees. As a musician I have performed with orchestras, sang backup with the Carpenters for 5 years (I was very young at the time), gigged with numerous bands and scored hundreds of films and TV shows. My graduate degrees are in film and I currently make my living as a producer/director/writer and university professor and department chair. I am fortunate to make a living doing what I love to do. ~~My musical tastes are diverse; I appreciate every style. Rock, pop, jazz, classical, blues and alt country have a place in my heart. ~~I love great comedy and worship humor. I have a personal prescription that requires an hour of humor every day. ~~I am spiritually tuned to the world but non-dogmatic. I am a panentheist whose beliefs are most closely reflected by Taoism but am comfortable with many traditions. I believe honesty is truly the best policy--nobody was ever caught telling a truth. Rumi's advice was to risk everything for love. That appears to be the main reason we are here--to love and be loved. From my experience, relationships must have three elements to succeed: intimacy, commitment and passion. If any of these is missing, it just won't work. Having these parts in place is only one step. Balancing them with the needs and interests of the individuals and, at the same time, creating an environment that allows the main three to grow and evolve over time--well, that's the trick, isn't it? I believe it can be done. The binders that hold it all together are humor, openness, honesty and acceptance. I think we all want the same thing; to adore someone and be adored in return. A good relationship is worth working and persevering for. Finally, I hate coathangers; they tangle, hide out behind the dryer and mock me.Well, it appears that I am surprisingly capable of writing on and on about myself. I'll close by saying that if larger portions of the above ramble describe you, then there is a chance we could ramble together.WARNING: Any *** individuals using this site or any of its associated sites for studies or projects-you DO NOT have permission to use any of my profile nor my pictures in any capacity both current and future. Hobbies, well since I have a sailboat, I guess that's an automatic hobby. Some might say a commitment. I'm sure I would enjoy all hobbies with the right person. Vegas was one of my favorite place to come too. Now that I live here, I haven't been to the strip once. Anyone want to take me? Well, Vegas was short lived, never made it to the strip. But I met some nice people along the way. We've noticed that it's as hot here as in Vegas. But as long as the A/C is working, we can handle it. lol Now if I can just make it down to that River Walk, anyone want to meet for a drink. There's so many options. Coffee, drinks, a hike, bowling, Biking, tennis, Driving range, Dog park, anywhere. Good luck.

I am a kind of a hippie deep down inside that is packaged in a conservative shell with a professional career. I thrive on surf culture, being outdoors and the ocean lifestyle. I am definitely an extrovert that reaches out to engage people in conversation - kind of like my grandmother who would tell the whole family story to people she met at a restaurant. This quality helps me succeed in my human resources profession. I have strong, long-term friendships that continue to grow and reward me through life. Some of my friends tell me that I should have been a comedian because of my wit and and impulsive humor. I cherish and place infinite value on my family relationships...) in the summer and walking barefoot on the beach after the show. I am looking for a fun-loving woman that is honest, intelligent, attractive, beautiful in the heart and soul and likes to laugh until her cheeks get sore. I want to meet someone with a career but priortizes a work/life balance and time for enjoyment. Meet for coffee or a drink.

I am a kind and generous person who loves to be with people and to find joy in each and every day. I am enthused about cycling, cross country skiing, golf and travel, especially when doing them with a group of friends. I'm proffesionally employed and have enjoyed working in the area of my expertise for almost 30 years. I plan to work for another ***years fulltime followed by a lighter schedule (semi-retire) to accomodate more travel and to spend time with family and friends. I'm growing to be more of a simple person and am learning to better accept life on lifes terms. I enjoy the qualities and abilities of a woman that far exceed mine (and men in general). The ability to make a house a home, to make a meal a great social event and to find stuff in the pantry that I just can't see. For a first meeting I would suggest a public place such as a coffee shop or a restaraunt for coffee, tea or dessert. I would ask lots questions and hope to do more listening than talking. If the weather is favourable, a quiet walk. I would hope to exchange a warm hug if it seems appropriate.
