If you were to ask my friends to describe me in a few words, they would say I am fun loving, outgoing, and compassionate. At least, that's what they'd say if they want to stay on my good side. In all seriousness, I am all of those things and more - lots more. I love being with my family and friends and I would like to have a family of my own someday. I absolutely love kids! In fact, I work with them every day as a special education teacher. It's rewarding and I get to be around some great kids all day. I enjoy traveling to new places and learning about new cultures, and I think it's an inherited trait - my parents loved experiencing new places, and as a result I got to see large parts of the US as a kid. A little closer to home, I also enjoy dancing and live music, entertaining friends and family with dinner parties, and going to museums and art galleries. Overall, I'm a caring, artsy, family-oriented, down to earth, low maintenance kinda person. I'm a great listener and I'll actually pay attention to what you're saying, rather than just nodding and waiting for my turn to talk. I'm looking for someone with some of the same interests, but it would be nice if he could introduce me to new things, too. I would like to meet someone who is ready for a serious relationship as well as family oriented. Someone who is stable but adventurous, with a real passion for life and trying new things. A sense of humor and an ability to laugh at themselves is a must, along with open communication and affection. There's obviously so much more to say, but hey, we only have so much room here. So if you think we've got something in common, send me a message - you never know!

So a little about me…I am one of the few true Northern VA natives you will ever meet. Yes, we really do exist! People in general say I remind them of the girl next door. I’m not sure what that means but I’m told it’s a good thing. I pride myself on being independent, self-reliant and financially responsible. My friends will also tell you that I'm loyal, can hold a conversation with just about anyone and have a wicked sense of humor.More about me...I have a high-stress job that keeps me on my toes during the week, so I prefer to keep my weekends drama-free, filled with good times and great friends. I have my own house which is always a work in progress. Oh, I also have 3 adopted “rescue” children, who are short, furry, have 4 legs and bark. If you are afraid of dog hair, wet noses and/or sloppy kisses then I’m probably not the girl for you. ***Feel free to insert your "dog lady" joke here. So what am I looking for? Well, I would hope that we are all here for the same thing. I mean this is a “dating” site after all. First and foremost, I’m looking for new friends but I’m hoping in the end to meet “Mr. Right.” I think one can never have too many friends in their lives and it’s proven that it’s best friends who make for great boyfriends and even better husbands. Yes, I'm a hopeless romantic. So a little about you…Dog lovers are a requirement obviously. I’’t smoke and isn’t a huge drinker. I’m looking for someone who compliments me both figuratively and literally, has a great sense of humor, is financially and emotionally secure and most importantly independent. (I'm not looking for someone to be with me ***.) It would also be nice if you are open to marriage and kids. Not any time soon, but in the future. Also, some common interests are nice but I'm excited to hear, talk about and experience new things. I hope you are, too. Want to know more or see if we click? Just take the next step and inquire. Who knows you may be happily surprised with what you find. Sorry guys, but I don’t drink coffee so meeting at a coffee house is pretty much out of the question. However, I like to keep initial meetings low key and stress free. A simple breakfast, lunch or dinner meeting is usually ideal. Or grabbing an appetizer and a drink. (Don't worry boys I won't use you for a free meal, I have no problem paying for my own.) If we don't click, hopefully we can at least enjoy some good conversation before going our separate ways. If things go well then we can plan something a little more "out of the box" for a follow up date.)

Isn't this always the hardest part? I love my job. I know it sounds cliché but it makes me happy to know that I can help people. When I'm not working, I tend to be a homebody, hanging out with my dog Sasha, who is more like my child than my pet, or spending time with my family in another part of the state. I enjoy movies and music of just about any kind, I love to read (my kindle is my best friend) and I aspire to be a great cook. I have literally hundreds of recipes that I'd like to try. I tend to be quiet and reserved until I get to know you, then I don't shut up. :) As my profile says, I really am a hopeless romantic and believe that romance and affection are very important parts of a good relationship. I'm really just looking for someone to share life with, an equal partner. Looks aren't as important to me (here I go with the clichés again), it's what's on the inside and how you treat someone that matters most. I tend to go for the traditional dinner and a movie on the first date, however something casual like coffee and conversation or bowling or putt-putt could be fun too!
