But doing something fun and active like hiking or bowling is also a great way to get to know someone new and it takes the pressure off the one-on-one vibe but it stills lends itself to conversation. I love going to movies, plays, and concerts, but I wouldn't advise that for a first time date; it's safe, but it doesn't allow you to get to know anything about your date.

I've thrown away my laundry list of “must haves" and "can't stands" and taken off my coat of expectations and replaced them with just "being" and being more open to meeting new people and letting things happen in their own way and time. I could go on and on about why I'd make an excellent partner but in reality, how I see myself may be quite different from how someone else sees me. It could be a certain look in his eyes or the way he smiles but whatever it is, it captures my attention and makes me want to get to know him more. A few traits that I do value, however, are honesty, integrity, kindness, openness, a good sense of humor, desire for partnership, non-judgmental, and being comfortable with who he is and where he is in his life. One note: Just because I don't have a long list of "must haves" does not mean I have no standards!
