About Me

I have lived in Huntsville, Alabama all my life, well except the first two years; but my roots are in Tennessee. And my late wife [passed one-year ago] and I were married in Chattanooga. While there, we had our pictures taken in old-time clothing, including all the trappings to make the tin-type photo look really old - including a pocket watch on a chain, bow tie and bucket hat for me - sitting in a chair; and her in an old-style dress with a feathery shawl draped around her neck . All of this with a vintage river-and-willows painting in the background. I put it on a pump organ, and it is still there. Several years ago, my sister-in-law saw this “old” photo and asked, “Who are those old people.” And I told her that they were her gg-grandparents. She replied, “I’ve never seen that photograph, and I want a copy.” I never told her otherwise. And she always insisted that she had “to have a copy of that magnificent picture of her ancestors.” So, one Christmas I had a copy made and framed it. And I gave it to her on Christmas Day. She placed it on her mantle. It is still there today. And she still does not know that she is looking at her sister and Gary (me). She continues to be proud to have a copy of her gg-grandparents on tin. One of my g-grandfathers (Archiebald Morrison) invented the “Wonder Plow.” A few years ago, the Governor of Tennessee became] personally involved in the returning of the Plow and the inventor’s anvil and other blacksmith tools to Tennessee. They now reside in the Tennessee State Museum. I have a picture of Archie standing beneath a Cheverolet***resting atop a huge adjustable ramp at a fair in Tipton County. At that time the Chevy***sold for $490. Its competitor (the Model-T Ford) sold for $495. You can read a bit about me on the online back cover of a novel I wrote about a decade ago.
