American academic from NYC moved to Scotland for permanent university position. Smart, funny, atypical, and extremely hard-working. Have had a pretty diverse past from studying ballet and modern dance at Juilliard and dancing in NYC as a teen, to studying acupuncture and herbology in China and having a private practice for many years, to going into academia (DPhil Oxford) because I wanted to be paid to learn.
