I'm constantly bewildered by the cruel joke of heterosexuality. Why am I drawn to and attracted to the opposite sex when it appears that everything about us is, indeed, opposite? It seems that men are more suited to living with men, and women with women. So why are we trying to fit a square peg into a round hole (please pardon the pun as I believe I've just answered my own question while philosophizing). I am sort of a walking contradiction in that I love people but am sort of a loner. I'm a little bit country, but I'm also a little bit rock 'n' roll. I love to go for a long hike in the woods with my dogs, but when I get home I might blast some Radiohead or Pink Floyd... or Johnny Cash. Then there's big band music! So much to choose from...I like social gatherings but I'm more likely to enjoy doing something productive. Most of my hobbies entail solitude. Things like painting, writing (screenplays mostly), hiking, biking, hanging out with my dogs. Very dedicated to my dysfunctional family, as well. I'm not a huge fan of television but do like public TV and a few cable shows like "Curb Your Enthusiasm." I could watch that show for hours. Also like Mad Men and a guilty pleasure is "The Bachelor". I can be too serious/cynical about life sometimes but when my mind is free from worrying about my family, my friends and the planet, I can be a hell of a lot of fun! I love to laugh but I also can appreciate a peaceful Sunday morning drinking coffee, listening to music and reading the paper. (One stripper said that a raisin was once originally a pickle--I'm sorry, it's cruel but it makes me feel better about myself!) I'm a pescatarian and would prefer someone that's not big on eating meat. Also would love someone who is outdoorsy and more of a homebody than an adventurer.I've been told I'm a gay man trapped in a woman's body. Maybe you should be a lesbian trapped in a man's body? First date should always be quick and painless, like ripping off a band-aid, just to see if there is chemistry. A quick dinner/drink or lunch is preferred. If we make it to the second date, I'd like to take a day trip to a city I've never been to before (provided I'm driving so you can't try to kidnap me, only to be seen again on milk cartons--Have you seen this girl?) and explore the local culture. Restaurants, shops, art museums, plays, etc. If the day goes well, the drive back home exchanging time on the iPods (which we'll bring on the first date, of course) should be titillating!
