wow. really?! adding myself to a virtual menu... surreal. but ok... I look first for a thinking mind!!!! I love creating things, making things- art stuff- indoors outdoors, simple to not simple-engineered or whim-new from old! history.objects, philosophy, literature, music, whatever! the past is what makes all of us new each day. there seems to be no sure formula for this so here goes; I'll try to hit the most asked categories, let me know what I missed!I've been on my own for the last 10 years, my children are grown and on their own, I don't have dependent parents or a mortgage; 2 indoor cats have me and every bird that I can attract to the outdoor feeders I count as friend. I love words in all forms--art,talking,writing,games,humor & lyrics & reading & debate & all the languages you speak. TV: I find all I need online--I dig the closed captions...I don't miss tv sports but am sure I could still nap thru it on the right lap. Movies: all but halloween type horror works for me. I also try to see the Banff Film Festival each year. Theater: I love theater! Books: they all have merit...there is so much to discoverDaily www reads: brainpickings.org, thisiscolossal.com , lostateminor.com, Outdoors: Garden IV life!; picnics and car rides &; forests & what have you? Indoors: comfort and haven and refuge; laughter and fun, courage and understanding.... and PROJECTS! I have a pottery studio and love clay. I also like tools, paint, glue and fabric and decorating and lumber and metal and paper &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& STUFF~Music- Piano, acoustic guitar and clarinet always catch my ear. I love voices, from Barbershop to Sinatra, listing music is like naming books... might be simpler to list what I easily live without? >> Molly Hatchet...& most screaming electric guitar.Travel: I've lived in 4 states, have kept this address for 33 years. The USA has something spectacular to offer no matter where you go!Humor: I love to laugh a LOT!--take your good time with you...do the right thing & seek peace. Perspective is everything: The sinking of the Titanic was a miracle to the live lobsters in the ship's galley."The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” ?Socrates“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”? Maya Angelou"Let her tell stories and dance in the rain, somersault, tumble and run, her joys must be high as her sorrows are deep, let her grow like a weed in the sun."— Neil Gaimancollage and mosaic are my natural way and this quote seems to speak to life being that way too!"Things break all the time. Glass and dishes and fingernails. Cars and contracts and potato chips. You can break a record, a horse, a dollar. You can break the ice. Chains can be broken. So can silence, and fever... promises break. Hearts break."— Jodi Picoult"It sometimes takes a state of solitude to bring to mind the real power of companionship." —;Dr. Adler had *** to always say whatever I was thinking, but this was difficult for me, for the act of thinking and the act of articulating those thoughts were not synchronous to me, or even necessarily consecutive. I knew that I thought and spoke in the same language and that theoretically there should be no reason why I could not express my thoughts as they occurred or soon thereafter, but the language in which I thought and the language in which I spoke, though both English, often seemed divided by a gap that could not be simultaneously, or even retrospectively, bridged." —;There is an odd synchronicity in the way parallel lives veer to touch one another, change direction, and then come close again and again until they connect and hold for whatever it was that fate intended to happen." — Ann Rule"I said at the beginning of this ramble that life is meaningless. It was not a flippant assertion. I think it’s absurd: the idea of seeking “meaning” in the set of circumstances that happens to exist after 13.8 billion years worth of unguided events. Leave it to humans to think the universe has a purpose for them. However, I am no nihilist. I am not even a cynic. I am, actually, rather romantic. And here’s my idea of romance: You will soon be dead. Life will sometimes seem long and tough and, god, it’s tiring. And you will sometimes be happy and sometimes sad. And then you’ll be old. And then you’ll be dead. There is only one sensible thing to do with this empty existence, and that is: fill it. And in my opinion (until I change it), life is best filled by learning as much as you can about as much as you can, taking pride in whatever you’re doing, having compassion, sharing ideas, running, being enthusiastic. And then there’s love, and travel, and wine, and sex, and art, and kids, and giving, and mountain climbing … but you know all that stuff already. It’s an incredibly exciting thing, this one, meaningless life of yours." ~Tim Minchin, ***commencement address, The University of Western Australia.com
